Ho-Oh appears in four random spots at the Volcano course. Taking a photo of Ho-Oh in these spots gives you a 1 Star Photo, as well as completing A Slice of Rainbow request.
See the table below learn where to find Ho-Oh and get its 1 Star Photo! Note that if the Pokemon does not appear in these locations, you can restart the course and try again.
1st Area | Start Volcano at Research Level 3. From the starting point, look to your right to find a Charmander. Ho-Oh briefly passes by in this area. |
---|---|
2nd Area | After passing by the jumping Monferno, look to your top left to find Ho-Oh flying near the area. |
3rd Area | If you found Ho-Oh in the second area, you can find it flying in between the second Crystabloom and the nearby rocks. |
4th Area | At Research Level 3, you may find Ho-Oh flying above the ceiling in the alternate route before the blue lava room. |

In order to get this to work, you need to take a picture of the Ho-oh at the beginning of the course. If you don’t, the feathers don’t show up later in the course.
