How to Get All Stars for Ho-Oh

How to Take Ho-Oh 1 Star Photo

Passing Through

Ho-Oh appears in four random spots at the Volcano course. Taking a photo of Ho-Oh in these spots gives you a 1 Star Photo, as well as completing A Slice of Rainbow request.

See the table below learn where to find Ho-Oh and get its 1 Star Photo! Note that if the Pokemon does not appear in these locations, you can restart the course and try again.

1st Area
Start Volcano at Research Level 3. From the starting point, look to your right to find a Charmander. Ho-Oh briefly passes by in this area.
2nd Area
After passing by the jumping Monferno, look to your top left to find Ho-Oh flying near the area.
3rd Area
If you found Ho-Oh in the second area, you can find it flying in between the second Crystabloom and the nearby rocks.
4th Area
At Research Level 3, you may find Ho-Oh flying above the ceiling in the alternate route before the blue lava room.

How to Take Ho-Oh 2 Star Photo

Taking a 2 Star Photo of Ho-Oh requires you to throw Illumina Orbs at three feathers that are found throughout the course. You also need to check if the Pokemon appears near the starting point.

Start Volcano at Research Level 3. From the starting point, look to your right to see if Ho-Oh passes by in the area where Charmander is. If not, restart the course and try again.

If Ho-Oh appears near the starting point, proceed through the course and head to the Alternate Route.

Once you enter a hallway, look to your left and find a feather sticking out on the wall. Throw an Illumina Orb at it.

After entering the next room, find the sleeping Torkoal on your right and throw an Illumina Orb at it.

Wait for Torkoal to move away and throw an Illumina Orb at the second feather.

Look to your left to find another Torkoal, a Charmander, and a Flareon in the room. Find the third and last feather on a rock near the blue lava and throw an Illumina Orb at it.

If all three feathers were illuminated, Ho-Oh should appear on the last room near the exit point. Take a photo of it flying up to get its 2 Star Photo.

How to Take Ho-Oh 3 Star Photo

To get a 3 Star Photo of Ho-Oh, you need to follow the same steps when getting its 2 Star Photo. Once it appears on the last area, throw an Illumina Orb at it for it to enter in an illuminated state.

Taking a 4 Star Photo of Ho-Oh requires following the same steps when getting its 2 Star Photo. You only need to capture a specific pose for it to count as a 4 Star Photo.

In order to get this to work, you need to take a picture of the Ho-oh at the beginning of the course. If you don’t, the feathers don’t show up later in the course.
