This is a guide to Pin evolution and mutation in NEO: The World Ends with You (NEO TWEWY). Read on to learn what are the stat changes when you evolve or mutate pins!
Yes, evolve and mutate Pins to obtain stronger, higher value Pins and further complete your Pin collection. Evolving or mutating Pins turn them into new Pins, which can be leveled up even further.
Each time a Pin levels up, their combat Power and sale Value increases, so evolved and mutated Pins are especially stronger and more valuable due to their higher level cap.
Evolve Pins by earning Pin Points and having the Pin reach its Max Level. Each Pin's Max Level is denoted in the Pins tab, along with a progress bar of how much PP is needed to increase its current level. Each Pin's Max Level can also viewed via Pins in the Collection tab of Records.
To determine whether a Pin evolves, select a Pin via Pins or Records and scroll to its third Info screen. Evolution will be listed as either Yes, No, or ???. If Yes, you will be prompted to evolve a Pin when it reaches its Max Level. If No, the Pin will simply be labeled as Mastered when it reaches its Max Level.
If a Pin's Evolution is listed as ??? in its Info screen, the Pin can undergo Mutation. Mutation is virtually the same as for Evolution, but Pins can only mutate if Mastered through a certain character. You can level up the Pin through any character, but it has to be maxed out on that certain character in order for the Mutation prompt to trigger.
To reveal which character is needed to mutate a pin, you need to unlock the Evolutionary Secrets Social Network from Marino Orihara. Once you have it, icons of the character will display in the evolution section of the Pins.
