This is a guide to getting started in NEO: The World Ends with You (NEO TWEWY). This guide will cover tips on starting the game, such as how to find Noise, how to use the Thoughts menu, how to increase drop rate, and more!
List of Contents
NEO: The World Ends with You has an autosave function that automatically saves your progress when you reach certain checkpoints in the game. You may also manually save to up to 9 save files by opening the Save menu through - (Switch) or Options (PS4).

Chat Log |
NEO: The World Ends with You has a lot of lengthy cut scenes for dialogue between characters. You can skip through bits of dialogue between the characters by repeatedly pressing A (Switch) or Circle (PS4). This is handy if you can read the speech bubbles faster than how the characters speak. You don't need to worry about missing important information either, as you can review the Chat Log anytime afterward.
As you progress through NEO: The World Ends with You, you will take on missions and even side quests. In order to not lose track of your current mission or progress, use Mental Notes to see what your current objective is and, sometimes, get even clues on how to clear the objective.
In order to check your Mental Notes, access the Main Menu with X (Switch) or Triangle (PS4), then go to the Thoughts tab. There, you should see the overall objective (in yellow font color), and a breakdown of the tasks to do.
Scan in order to see the enemies known as Noise in any area. Scan with R (Switch) or R1 (PS4) to see Noise symbols floating around the area. Interact them to initiate combat.
Scanning also allows you to listen on some people's thoughts by pressing A (Switch) or Circle (PS4) when near them.
Collecting Pins allows you to unlock different Psychs. Changing the equipped Pin of a character changes their Psych, which changes their ability during combat. A character can only have 1 Pin/Psych equipped to them at any time.
To change equipped Pins, open the Main Menu with X (Switch) or Triangle (PS4), then go to the Pins tab. Here,y ou'll see the characters on your team and their currently equipped Pins. Select a character in order to swap their Pin with any of your currently unequipped Pins.
Hovering over a Pin also shows you its corresponding Psych/combat abilities and stats.

Difficulty Menu |
Some pins are only obtainable at higher difficulties. To obtain these rare pins, access the Difficulty menu through + (Switch) or the Touchpad (PS4) and increase your game difficulty.
Pin drop rate varies betweeen enemy and level. In order to increase the drop rate of pins, lower the level of your team before fighting Noise. Decreasing a level reduces team HP by 30 but increases the Pin drop rate multiplier by 1.
Chain Battles occur when you attract multiple Noise to you at once while Scanning. The chain battles increase the multiplier of Pin drop rate, but since the battles are consecutive, they don't allow your team time to recover in between rounds.
The enemies known as Noise spawn in every area each time you enter it, so you can farm EXP and Pin Points by clearing an area and repeatedly revisiting it. To check if an area has Noise, use the Scan function to reveal the Noise symbols in the area and as red dots on your minimap.
