Use a Pickaxe to mine ore near the Howling Hill area in Crimson Desert. Read on to learn how to mine ore and where to find minerals in this guide.

1. Equip a Pickaxe

Using a pickaxe is the most straightforward way of mining for ore. Select the pickaxe from your quick menu by holding the left D-pad on a controller or the T key on PC. Make sure your character is holding it in their hand.

Aim at the ore and strike it when the reticle is blue to obtain the ore drops. A blue reticle means you can strike in that spot; otherwise, a red reticle means you cannot strike there.

The best way to get a pickaxe is to accept Rhett's Request outside of the equipment shop in Hernand. He will give you a free pickaxe when you talk to him.

Fire at the Ore with a Charged Shot

Another way of mining ore is by firing a Charged Shot, which you unlock in your Skill Tree. After learning Charged Shot, draw your bow and wait until the arrow charges up. Shoot the arrow at the ore to obtain the ore drops. Note that this consumes Spirit.

Using Charged Shot is helpful when minerals are in a position that is hard to reach. However, watch where the ore drops land as shooting the ore with a Charged Shot causes the drops to shoot out from the impact.

Strike the Ore with Force Palm

Using Force Palm is also a good way of mining for ore if you do not have a pickaxe. Simply aim at the ore with your camera then charge up a Force Palm attack to mine it. Note that you consume Spirit each time you use Force Palm.

Climb a Cliff and Use Force Palm to Mine Ore

What is unique about Force Palm is that you can climb on a surface and use Force Palm to strike. You can use this to your advantage when mining ore that is above the ground.

Watch out after striking the ore as you will be launched away from the impact, which can be deadly if you are mining from a great height. If launched away, use your flight ability to safely glide back down and collect the ore.

How to Unlock Flight

Equip the Mining Knuckledrill

After defeating the boss Marni's Excavatron in the Faction Quest Estate in Dismay, you unlock the Special Equipment item, the Mining Knuckledrill. Using Knuckledrill allows you to mine ore faster while also increasing your ore drops by 10%.

At the Bottom of Cliffs

You can find ore at the bottom of cliffs all over the map. The earliest location is at the bottom of the cliff west of Howling Hill, south of Hernand City.

This location contains Iron Ore and is near the Abyss Nexus fast travel point once you have set up the Greymane camp during Chapter 3.
