Once you enter a new region, always look for the bell towers as ringing them clears up the Fog of War concentrated in the area occupied by the bell tower. This makes exploration easier, lessening the need to manually clear up the map on foot.

Sanctum of Temperance	Found behind a nook hidden by grass.
Sanctum of Penitence	Jump into the hole near the brown dog to get to the chest.
Sanctum of Benediction	Light the latern to access a hidden area containing the chest.

It is worth visiting the Sanctums of Temperance, Penitence, and Benediction before starting the Witch of Wisdom questline, as this allows you to loot the chests containing powerful Abyss Gear without having to fight.

The gear is powerful enough to justify visiting these locations early on. Do so, and save the combat encounters for later, once you're better geared.

Mysterious Energy locations are worth exploring because they often contain fast travel points like an Abyss Nexus or an Abyss Cresset that you can unlock.

They also contain unique loot, though accessing some of it requires solving puzzles.

Hernand Highlands Cavern

The Hernand Highlands Cavern is a place where you can mine diamonds, which are needed to craft Abyss Cores. Located southeast of your camp in Howling Hill, it is quite accessible in the early game.
