You can assign your Freeswords to missions in a region, which provides resources and other rewards upon completion. Progress in missions is dependent on in-game time, so you can either rest or perform other tasks until they finish.
Each Freesword stationed at the camp has a unique set of skills that allows them to perform well on some missions and poorly on others.
You can check your Freesword's skills and the missions you can send them on by speaking with Ross at the camp.

As an alternative, you can deploy Freeswords to fight in the blockaded regions. This reduces the number of enemies, making some areas more manageable when you visit them.

You can relax on your camp bed to pass the time. It functions like any other bed, but with the added convenience of its proximity. The same rules apply for resting, meaning you cannot rest consecutively.

You can move the furniture and other objects around inside the camp, as the game lets you customize its look and feel. Use the furniture and other items that you have acquired on your adventures to customize it's appearance to your liking.

You can cook dishes using the pot and purchase ingredients from the cook, which makes meal preparation much easier. The cook also sells prepared dishes, albeit with limited stock that is refreshed daily.
The cook also sells recipes that you can buy and use to prepare the dishes repeatedly, as long as you have the necessary ingredients.

Additionally, the camp's facilities allow you to grow your own crops and raise animals on the ranch. This makes farming a lucrative activity that allows you to procure ingredients at your own pace.

You can unlock Tranan, the camp blacksmith, who buys and sells gear with limited stock. He also sells ammunition, as well as refinement items, which can be convenient if you're engaging in ranged combat often.

After unlocking the wagon, you can convert provisions into packaged trade goods with Carl, and either store them or sell them at the trading center. Since prices can differ, monitor them closely to maximize profits.

You can retrieve items you left behind by speaking with Carl, the Base Camp Provisions keeper. You can also donate unwanted items to him to boost camp growth.

You can obtain gear and other loot through the Supply Chest that you were unable to collect earlier. This lets you keep items you might have missed earlier due to a full inventory.
The Supply Chest has a maximum capacity of 230 slots, so check it often to ensure it doesn't exceed its limit.
Lastly, the Supply Chest is intended to help you regain items that you failed to loot; you cannot use it to manually store items.

Deploy freeswords on missions whenever possible, as it is the best way to earn resources. Missions can be completed while you are doing other activities in other places, making it one of the best passive ways to accumulate resources.

Try to enlist any Greymanes you can find right away by doing the missions associated with them. They'll serve as a useful freesword and will also unlock additional features in your camp.

Completing the Timberturner Wainright missions allows you to unlock and upgrade the Wagon. Try to finish this mission once you obtain a freesword with the Engineering skill to gain access to trade.
Both the Cook and the Quartermaster are simultaneously unlocked upon finishing the A Rumor at Glenbright Farm Mission, so try to finish it as soon as you can in order to gain access to their facilities.

In order to unlock the camp features, you first need to progress through the main quest until you complete Homestead, which unlocks the camp itself.
Unlocking the camp lets you rercruit the scattered Greymane members, and reunite them under your banner.
