Use Force Palm Whenever He Tries to Dig
The best way to defeat Marni's Excavatron is by using the Force Palm skill to stagger it as soon as the drills light up. This is a huge opening to execute your most powerful combos and deal damage as it not only staggers the boss, but also cancels the Dig attack which is a huge part of the Boss mechanic.
Take note that Force Palm spends 5 Spirit per use so make sure you have enough Spirit to perform the skill through the use of items, killing enemies, parrying, and using your Focus skill. You can also get Force Palm Lv. 3 so you can consecutively use Force Palm and start building up his Stagger bar to stun him for an opening.
Distance Yourself and Wait for an Opening
Most of Excavatron's moves are typically slow but can hit you for huge damage if you are not careful. We recommend keeping your distance and wait for it to attack before you start executing your combos and dish out damage. The Drill attacks it frequently performs can be a good opening to safely deal damage from behind without getting hit.
Use the Bow and Campfire to Attack from A Distance
Alternatively, you can use Kliff's Bow or Damiane's Pistol to shoot Excavatron from a safe distance while avoiding his attacks. Try to lure him towards one of the campfires, as he can get stuck between them while he's digging.
Make sure to use the Focused Shot skill, as this allows rapidly fire 4 arrows in quick succession and helps slow down time while firing. You can also try to get unlimited arrows at Pororin village in the southeast side of Hernand and talk to Lumiel to research and craft the Sustained Supply Arrow, which allows you to have an infinite supply of arrows to use.

| Dig | Marni's Excavatron lights up both its drills to bury itself underground and follow you throughout the arena where it eventually emerges to deal huge damage. Use Force Palm just as soon as its drills start lighting up to cancel the attack and prevent it burrowing underground, giving you a huge opening to deal damage. |
