Wear a Mask and Bump into an NPC

To pickpocket someone, you first need to acquire a mask to be able to steal. Equip the mask and bump into an NPC to trigger the prompt to pickpocket them. The prompt appears suddenly, so it is better to walk and bump into an NPC to see it more clearly.

After pickpocketing them, you will be spotted for theft and a red radius will mark the area where you committed the crime. Leave the radius to get rid of the status; otherwise, you will be wanted with a bounty on your head.

Raise Your Lantern to Check an NPC's Items

Raise Lantern to Check NPC
Raise your lantern near an NPC to see what items they are holding. An NPC may keep copper pouches or even equippable gear like rings, while Nobles can have Gold Bars. You can also use the lantern to check if an NPC has nothing to be pickpocketed.
