How to Unlock and Track Challenges

Obtain Sealed Abyss Artifacts

Sealed Abyss Artifact

Many Challenges, particularly from the Mastery, Combat, and Life challenge categories, are unlocked initially by obtaining their corresponding Sealed Abyss Artifacts. These can be obtained in the open world, on top of different looking altars usually along the main paths.

Obtaining a Sealed Abyss Artifact unlocks the challenge on your Journal, and completing the objectives for that challenge unseals the artifact, making it usable in your inventory to claim the rewards.

Investigate Mysterious Energy Locations

Mysterious Energy

Many Exploration challenges are labeled as “Mysterious Energy” on your map when you get close enough. These indicate the rough area of a specific Secret Places or Ancient Ruins challenge.

Find these locations and solve the puzzle to unlock and complete the challenge.

Restore Abysses

Restoring an Abyss

As you find more Abyss locations in the sky, you'll unlock the challenge for activating the Abyss Nexuses from these locations. Many of these Abyss locations will have you solve a puzzle to restore them, allowing you to claim the artifact and complete the challenge.

Use the Journal Menu

If you lose track of your progress, navigate to the Challenges section of the Journal tab in the pause menu to view active objectives and requirements.

Challenges in Crimson Desert are specific milestones and objectives tied to the game’s various systems. They range from combat achievements to peaceful life skills.

Rewards Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Cores

Challenge Rewards

Completing challenges earns you Abyss Artifacts and Faded Abyss Artifacts. These are used to unlock, enhance, or respec your character’s stats and skills. Some challenges may reward you with Abyss Cores instead, providing upgrades to your equipped weapons or armor.
