Scales Based on Level

Base Level 3% - 6%
Level 5 13% - 16%
Level 10 24% - 25%
Level 15 33% - 35%

These values are based on recorded hits. The critical hit chance may vary due to RNG.

Critical Chance increases by around 2% per level of critical chance until you reach level 5. After that, the scaling slows to between 1% and 2% per level. The extra damage of a critical hit remains constant and doesn't change per level.

Players looking to increase their overall DPS should generally aim for levels 5 and 15 in the early to mid-game. They should only go for the maximum crit level once they can balance it with other offensive stats, such as Attack and Attack Speed.

Critical Rate is an attack modifier that increases the likelihood that an attack will deal extra damage upon hitting the target.

Weapons have a default critical hit chance, which can be increased with the Critical Hit Rate stat. The higher the critical rate, the higher the chance of landing a critical hit, resulting in higher DPS overall.

A critical hit produces a different sound when it lands, making it quite discernible from a normal attack.

Sources of Crit Do Not Apply to All Attacks

Varies

Critical Rate isn't an inherently global stat, and is commonly applied to the weapon that has the stat. For example, critical rate only applies to the equipped weapon or Abyss gear socketed into it. It does not apply to unarmed attacks or secondary weapons.

Fortunately, critical rate from accessories applies to all attacks.

How to Increase Critical Chance

To increase your critical chance, equip gear with the Critical Rate stat on the weapon you're going to use. Use this in conjunction with accessories that also have the Critical Rate stat.

Ideally, you would want a weapon with a base critical hit chance, such as the Darkbringer, whose critical rate can be increased through refinement.

Unarmed builds use the stats of gloves for strikes and boots for kicks. Therefore, if you use unarmed attacks, you will need to increase the critical rate of both pieces of armor.

You can slot Abyss Gears into weapons and armor to increase their critical rate, with varying levels and rarity. Rarer Abyss Gears provide more Critical Rate, but can be harder to acquire.

Note that critical rate is not shared among weapons and certain pieces of armor, so keep that in mind when slotting in your Abyss Gears, as it will only apply the critical rate to the piece of gear that you socket it into.
