Crimson Desert have specific armor pieces that belong to a set, denoted by sharing the same name. However, unlike most RPG armor systems, armor sets in Crimson Desert do not provide set bonuses when equipped. Armor sets mostly impact cosmetics, especially during the opening hours of the game.

4 Different Armor Types

Armor Type Description
Headgear The headgear acts as your character's helmet or cap. This armor type offers the least amount of defense.
Chest Armor The chest armor offers the most defense stat among the 4 armor types, appearing as your character's torso armor.
Gloves Gloves provide an attack stat to boost your character's offensive potency.
Footwear Similar to gloves, the footwear provides an attack stat to aid your offensive capabilities.

There are 4 armor types in Crimson Desert: Headgear, Chest Armor, Gloves, and Footwear. It is essential to equip all 4 armor types to increase your defense and to gain additional stat bonuses!

Armor System Explained

Armor Can Be Upgraded to Raise Their Stats

Weapon Refining

Similar to weapons, armor can be upgraded through the process of refining. To upgrade your armor pieces, you must first check if your armor is unique or non-unique.

Non-unique armor can be upgraded by using duplicate pieces, while unique armor can only be upgraded by using specific materials that you can get throughout the world.

Abyss gear are special items that provide modifiers to enhance your armor. Similar to refining, you'll have to visit a special NPC in order to slot in or change your weapon's current Abyss Gear loadout.

Regular armor can be looted by defeating enemies, or by opening chests while exploring the open world. Alternatively, you can buy regular armor on the available shops in each region.

very low variety, like 30 something armor it seems

There's Glove set called Strongbow Gloves with 11 Attack and 3 Defense. The gloves give the character an ability to ricochet arrows to nearby enemies.
