How to Beat Goyen

Parry His Attacks and Avoid the Turning Slash and Meteor Kick

The easiest way to defeat Goyen is to use sweeps to knock him off the ground and interrupt his combos. This strategy allows you to deal significant damage while holding off Goyen's key pattern moves. Whenever Goyen flies to use his Meteor Kick or Force Palm, be sure to jump high and use Aerial Roll to avoid damage.

Unlocks the Meteor Kick Skill

Skill Description
Meteor KickMeteor Kick Perform an unarmed attack while high in the air to drive a precise diving kick.
How to Unlock: Raise Unarmed Combat to Lv. 5 or observe the skill in action to unlock it.

Goyen allows you to learn the Meteor Kick skill during the fight. Keep in mind that certain skills can be obtained by either starting the boss fight, using the Watch and Learn mechanic, or defeating the boss themselves, depending on the boss you fought.

For skills learned through the Watch and Learn mechanic, note that you must have the camera facing the Boss once they perform the move and hold down the Interact button to learn their skill.

Goyen Location

Goyen is located at the Nest of Valor atop the Spire of the Sun. This location only becomes available in Chapter 9, during the Unwavering Steps quest.
