| Step | How to Save |
|---|---|
| 1 | ![]() Pause your game and scroll to the Others tab. Under it, scroll to Options, where you will see Save/Load Game. |
| 2 | ![]() Select Save/Load Game to see a list of all your save files. The game has three auto save files based on your latest activity so you do not have to manually save. If you wish to manually save, you can pick an empty save file and overwrite it with your current data. |
You only have 9 empty save files to manually save your game data. After overwriting all save files, the list will not expand to include more. In this case, you have to overwrite a used save file or delete one to save your current progress.
Crimson Desert does not offer the option to turn off the auto save feature. Instead, the game automatically saves your data in the first three save files on the list, which you cannot delete.

Auto Save triggers on major events, such as quest progression. This can be a simple story beat, long dialogue sequences, or right before a boss fight.

The Auto Save feature will automatically trigger upon picking up a new sealed Abyss artifact. This applies to all new sealed artifacts that you've picked up for the first time. The Auto Save will trigger once the sealed Abyss artifact has been stowed.

Auto Save also triggers when you successfully complete a Sealed Abyss Artifact Challenge. This is quite useful, especially if the challenge was particularly difficult.
That being said, we suggest doing a manual save after completing a challenge in case the auto save gets overwritten and you want to reload to a previous save.
