When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Valentine's Selena are +Spd and -Def. Spd is a superboon and boosts Selena's base Spd up to 50, allowing her to keep up with all the fast metagame units, avoiding follow-up attacks from them while also creating her own follow-up attacks against slower foes.
Def is a safe bane to take as reducing it further will not change any of her matchups. Valentine's Selena will struggle against foes that deal physical damage no matter how much you invest into her physical bulk.
We recommend +Spd when merging Valentine's Selena up to +10 to retain her Spd advantage against a majority of her foes while also preventing faster units from generating a follow-up attack against her

Valentine's Selena is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Valentine's Selena comes with a pretty powerful inheritable red tome in Devoted Basket+. This tome deals pre-combat damage based on her foe's Atk stat and whether Selena outspeeds her foe or has weapon-triangle advantage against them.
The damage dealt by this effect is applied right as combat begins and cannot be prevented, allowing Selena to wear down bulky units beforehand.
Devoted Basket+ also grants Atk/Spd+5 and additional Atk/Spd bonuses equal to 15% of Selena's Spd during combat, giving her the offensive stats necessary to finish off her foe after the pre-combat damage effect kicks in.
Valentine's Selena suffers from not having any unique skills to call her own, making her unable to stand out amongst other units.
Cavalry mage units are quite abundant in the game, and lacking an exclusive weapon makes Valentine's Selena replaceable by better units.
Valentine's Selena takes 1.5x damage from cavalry-effective weapons like Thani or Binding Reginleif, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
