What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Very balanced stat spread ・Huge boost to Def/Res when Hp drops to 80% ・Can raise the Def/Res of dragon allies |
Might: 16 Range: 1 If foe initiates combat or if foe's HP ≥ 75% at start of combat, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat. If foe's Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res. |
If unit’s HP ≤ 80% at start of combat, grants Def/Res +7 during combat. |
At start of turn, grants Def/Res+6 to adjacent dragon allies for 1 turn. |
Stat | Superboon/Superbane | IV Recommendation |
---|---|---|
HP (18) | ★★☆☆☆ | |
Atk (23) | ★★★★☆ | |
Spd (7) | ★★★★★ | |
Def (7) | ★★★☆☆ | |
Res (7) | ★★★☆☆ |
◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Kana (M) will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
With a total of three -4 superbanes, any of these will give Kana (M) a pretty tough time in battles. The best option would be to keep his stats balanced and go with base stats. Since you can eliminate his bane via Merge Allies, we recommend going with a +Spd IV if you have extras that can be used to merge and eliminate this fatal flaw to his defensive stats.
At +10 Merges, you can keep the +Spd IV. With that IV, he reaches 40 Spd at max merges. It might not be enough to score follow-up attacks on most units, but it protects him from some units' follow-up attacks. This improves his ability as a mixed tank.

This build uses Kana (M) as a tank with his refined Dusk Dragonstone. Both Dragon Wall 3 and the post-combat healing of Dusk Dragonstone keep him in Quick Riposte Range
Exclusive Weapon Effect from Refining (Special Effect Type) | |
---|---|
SP: 400 | |
Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: 3 If foe initiates combat or if foe's HP ≥ 75% at start of combat, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat. If foe's Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res. If unit is within 3 spaces of an ally, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat and restores 7 HP to unit after combat. :500 :200 |
|
The special effect refine of Dusk Dragonstone provides additional bonuses during combat and some minor healing post-combat.
These effects are better than the flat stat bonuses given by the other refines, and as such, is the recommended refine for Kana (M).

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Kana (M) is a close magic attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Water Breath+ grants +4 Def/Res to Kana (M) if he is attacked in the enemy phase. This makes him bulkier when foes attack him. Water Breath+ also grants him adaptive damage against ranged foes. Because of adaptive damage, it is a good idea to pick-up Distant Counter on him as it makes him a deadly counterattacker to ranged foes. Check out the builds section to learn more.
Adaptive damage is when an effect allows damage to be calculated using the lower of a foe's Def or Res
Kana (M)'s A Skill Brazen Def/Res will give him Def/Res+7 when his HP is below 80%. Taking damage increases his defensive stats so that he can tough through combat so make sure that he is always in the frontline soaking up hit for his team.
If you can afford to do so, equip either a Distant Def 3 or a Close Def 3 Sacred Seal onto Kana (M) depending on what maps you will be tackling. If he reaches Brazen range with these Seals, he becomes very hard to take down as he will boast huge Def/Res levels. Check out our recommended builds section to learn more!
As it is an in-combat buff, it stacks well with Water Breath+.
Kana (M)'s C skill, Fortify Dragons boosts adjacent dragon units' Def/Res by +6. It is powerful and pretty easy to trigger, and this makes Kana (M) a good candidate for a support unit in all-dragon teams.
Bulky dragon powerhouses like Idunn and Legendary Tiki (Young) would highly appreciate this buff from Kana (M)!
Kana (M) has low Spd. Even if he is a generally durable unit, green units with high Spd can easily take him down. Be mindful of Kana (M)'s position in relation to units that pose a threat to him!
This is why we recommend a +Spd IV. If you can, supplement his Spd with support skills from his allies too!
Kana (M) takes 1.5x damage from dragon-effective weapons like Falchion or Naga, and one blow from these types of weapons is sure to take him down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
Should You Unlock Potential for this Hero? |

We recommend that you use Unlock Potential to bring Kana - Dragon Spawn from 4 Stars to 5 Stars. Kana - Dragon Spawn is very useful as a dragon ace, so you may find using Unlock Potential on Kana - Dragon Spawn helpful if your team lacks a party member with this role.

Hey, Mama! Look what I—wait, you’re {Summoner}, not my mama! That was a funny mistake to make! I wonder what made me think you were Mama? You don’t look like her... I guess it’s just ’cause I love you just like I love her. Did you know that? It’s true! You always wanna play with me, and you also show me what to do in our battles. I’m practicing all the time to be even better in fights—have you noticed? Have you seen how strong I am? You just watch—I’ll keep you safe with my dragon powers forever! |
