+Spd/-Res

The best IVs for Kana (F) are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows Kana (F) to get a ton of follow-up attacks on her foes. It also protects her from hostile follow-up attacks. Since she is mainly usef as a physical tank, her Res is of less importance and thus safe to be taken as a bane.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Kana (F) to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, she can get a 41 Spd which is definitely at a fair level. With some support, she can score follow-up attacks on most units in the game.

How to Use, Explanation

If you do not have DC to run a all-counterattack Sun Dragonstone set, then you can run Lighning Breath+ on Kana. Like all her builds, this focuses her firepower in the enemy phase. Make sure to get Threat. Atk/Res 3 off to improve her matchups! She has the bulk to stay in the heat of combat to do so, so don't worry. If you don't have access to T.AR3, Threaten Res 3 or Threaten Atk 3 will do fine.

How to Use, Explanation

This build makes Kana (F) an enemy phase tank with her +Eff refine.With, Distant Counter and Null C-Disrupt she can also handle healers who prevent counterattacks. Her C skill is for putting her in a dragon-focused team, but can be swapped out for either Smoke skills or whatever the player needs.

The special effect refine of Sun Dragonstone grants Kana (F) an effect identical to Lull Atk/Spd 3.

It inflicts Atk/Spd-3 on a foe in combat, and nullify bonuses to those stats. This will decrease foes' damage and increase Kana's rate of follow-up attacks, and it has the powerful property of nulliying Atk/Spd buffs.

Another reason why this skill is great is because Atk/Spd buffs are very common in the game. This is because Atk/Spd are the most important stats on an offensive unit.

Kana (F) is a close magic attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Kana (F) Strengths

Defensive boost in the enemy phase and adaptive damage

Water Breath+ grants +4 Def/Res to Kana (F) if she is attacked in the enemy phase. This makes her bulkier when foes attack her. Water Breath+ also grants her adaptive damage against ranged foes. Because of adaptive damage, it is a good idea to pick-up Distant Counter on her as it makes her a deadly counterattacker to ranged foes. Check out the builds section to learn more.

Access to a special effect refine

Kana (F)'s Sun Dragonstone is basically an upgraded version of Water Breath+. It provides improved bonuses when attacked by a foe, grants her adaptive damage, and has access to a special effect refine that improves Kana (F)'s match-ups even more by crippling foes' Atk/Spd stats! Atk Bonus when attacked

Fierce Stance 3 grants Kana (F) +6 Atk during combat when a foe engages her in combat. This patches her weak Atk stat in the enemy phase turning her into a decent enemy phase unit. Check out the Budget Kana (F) build if you want to turn her into an enemy phase unit!

Take note that this buff is inaccessible in the player phase. Her damage is pretty mediocre in the player phase so watch out for that. This stacks with the buffs from Water Breath+.

Quite low Atk stat

Kana (F) is set back by a low Atk stat. This makes it hard for her to take down more powerful units in one phase. To remedy this, team her up with allies that can improve her Atk stat with skills like Hone Dragons, Goad Dragons or even Atk Tactic 3.

Weak to Dragon Effective Weapons

Kana (F) takes 1.5x damage from dragon-effective weapons like Falchion or Naga, and one blow from these types of weapons is sure to take her down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
