Res (8) | ★★★★★ |
◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
Caineghis's recommended IVs are +Res and -Spd. Caineghis can withstand an attack from a ranged foe and then gain a counterattack and follow-up attack to turn the tables on the foe. This means that a higher Res stat will reduce the damage he takes from magic attackers. In particular, this will increase his effectiveness against dragons.
+Def is also a great bane for Caineghis. If your aim is to use Caineghis as a physical tank, this boost to his Def stat will further his efficiency. A +Def IV will give him a Def of 40, which will increase to 44 when the foe initiates combat. This will incrase to 50 with the sacred seal Close Def 3.

This build takes advantage of Refined Lion King Fang and Hardy Fighter to apply massive damage reduction on most of your enemies' attacks. Caineghis becomes a very sturdy wall that will take multiple attacks to defeat. Bracing Stance 3 provides the Guard effect that his kit lacks.
Exclusive Weapon Effect from Refining (Special Effect Type) | |
---|---|
SP: 400 | |
Might: 14 Range: 1 HP: 3 Grants Atk+3. If foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75% at start of combat, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat. If foe initiates combat, reduces damage from area-of-effect Specials (excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials) and foe's follow-up attack by 70%. (For standard weapons, "follow-up attack" means the second strike. For weapons that grant "unit attacks twice," it means the third and fourth strikes.) At start of turn, if unit is adjacent to only beast or dragon allies or if unit is not adjacent to any ally, unit transforms (otherwise, unit reverts). If unit transforms, grants Atk+2 and unit can counterattack regardless of foe's range. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, inflicts Atk/Def-5 on foe during combat and unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack, and also, if unit is transformed, grants bonus to unit's Atk/Def/Res during combat = 25% of foe's Atk at start of combat, - 8 (min 0, max 10). :500 :200 |
|
Refined Lion King Fang reduces damage from AoE Specials and follow-up attacks by 70%, applies an Atk/Def penalty to the opponent, grants Caineghis a guaranteed follow-up attack on both player and enemy phase, and bonus Atk/Def/Res during combat equal to 25% of the foe's Atk at start of combat if he is transformed.
These effects are all powerful and make Caineghis a terrifying unit to face. The guaranteed follow-up attack from this refine frees up his B slot to run Hardy Fighter 3, and that combined with the 70% damage reduction on follow-up attacks makes Caineghis a very sturdy wall capable of soaking hits for all of his allies.

Caineghis is a close ranged physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
With his exclusive skill Lion King Fang, Caineghis gains Atk +2 when transformed, and gains the ability to counterattack from any range. He will also gain a +4 buff to all stts when the foe initiates combat, meaning that he can tank enemy attacks and then destroy them with a counter. The weapon itself grants an additional Atk +3, and he gains Atk +6 in total when the foe initiates combat.
He has the skill Distant Def 4 by default, which outranks the skill Distant Def 3 held by Celica and Micaiah. When a ranged foe initiates combat, he will gain s Def and Res bonus of +8. This means that foes will not be able to simply attack and defeat him.
His Passive B skill Vengeful Fighter will give him a guaranteed follow-up attack when his HP is above 50% and the foe initiates combat. Since he can counterattack at any range while transformed, he is able to counterattack and then use a follow-up to attack twice. His default skills and exclusive weapon have great synergy, meaning that he is ready for combat without needing to do any type of skill inheritance.
Caineghis will take additional damage from armor or beast effective weapons, which can be fatal. He does not have to worry about triangle disadvantage, but be sure to keep him away from enemies with weapons that are effefctive on him.
While Caineghis excels against ranged attacks, dragons present a bit of a porblem. His Res stat is not quite as good as his Def, so Fallen Robin or Idunn can inflict massive damage when they attack him.

Idunn | Brave Hector | Ophelia | Legendary Tiki (Young) |

As a beast unit, Caineghis can further boost his stats by gaining support buffs like Fortify Beasts, Hone Beasts, etc. While he is great up against ranged foes, close magic from dragons can be fatal. Support buffs and additional movement from fellow beasts Reyson and Leanne will go a long way.
Dragons are some of the only units who can OHKO Caineghis. Idunn especially can easily take him down, so pair him with an ally who is strong against dragons. Alm and L!Marth are total dragons slayers, and they hold the advantage even when pit up against dragon units with color advantage such as L!Tiki and Nowi.

Oboro | Legendary Tiki (Young) | Myrrh | Fallen Robin (M) |

Again, Caineghis must avoid manaketes to survive. Nino and Tharja's blade tomes alone are not enough to take him down, but Distant Def 4 will not have any effect on damage from close range units. Therefore, when faced with dragons, the best option is to keep him away and let another unit do the work for him.
With his incredible Def stat, Caineghis can tank most attacks, However, if a unit like Est or Oboro with an armor-effective weapon has a chance to gain a follow-up attack on him, it could be deadly. When you come across foes with these types of weapons, avoid combat, and let another unit take them out for him.

You can use Caineghis to inherit Distant Def 4 or Vengeful Fighter 3. However, as Caineghis himself is already a very powerful unit, we recommend you raise at least one Caineghis unit before foddering one off.
Caineghis is a Hero who can be pulled from any summon.

This country's history is fascinating. It teaches a very different lesson than Gallia's. Perhaps I'm showing my age by saying this, but it feels wonderful to know I still have things to learn… Courage, of itself, is not power. Knowledge can be sharper than a sword. As long as you live, you should continue to fight, and you should always learn. Let us both aim to improve ourselves, {Summoner}. If that is your goal, I will spare no effort to help you realize it. Two of the same mind, fighting with pride. |
