When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Def/-HP

The best IVs for Nowi are +Def and -HP. Nowi is a very powerful unit once Lightning Breath+ is upgraded to get the adaptive damage effect. This puts her damage output to respectable levels. The only thing you need to worry about is improving her bulk and a Def stat will definitely help with that.

If you prefer going with a Windsweep 3 build, you can go for +Spd IV instead. In both cases, her HP would not be of much importance so it is safe to take as a bane.

How to Use, Explanation

Even without dragonflowers or meges, Nowi will be a ball of stats with this build thanks to Fury 4 and her spec. eff. ref. Purifying Breath's Special delay is remedied by Steady Breath and Quick Riposte 3. Panic Ploy 3, when activated will highlight Nowi's balanced stat spread even further! You can replace Fury with any skill that improves her battle potential in both phases, but be warned as Tier 4 Bond skills are a bit redundan when she has her spec. eff. refine.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Purifying Breath

Purifying Breath is a direct upgrade from the ever-staple Lightning Breath+ so its a no brainer that you would want to get the specially refined version. Though it does not get rid of the Special activation penalty, it grants Nowi mechanics that allow her to beef up with stats and neutralize her penalties as long as she has at least 50% HP. These are very important for her as she is a dual-phase dragon unit.

The trigger requirement is simple and pretty easy to use! To help meet the 50% HP requirement, you can go for healing specials such as Sol or Aether. If you do not prefer this, you can always rely on good old-fashioned staff units.

Nowi is a close magic attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Nowi Strengths

Lightning Breath has Distant Counter built-in

Lightning Breath+ allows Nowi to counterattack ranged units. Combined with her great defensive stats, this weapon makes her an excellent enemy phase unit.

This is also present in her exclusive, specially refineable weapon, Purifying Breath.

Weapon upgrade grants her adaptive damage

Regardless of the weapon upgrade you choose for Lightning Breath+, it will grant Nowi adaptive damage against ranged foes. This further improves her ability as an enemy phase unit as it allows her to abuse ranged units that have imbalanced defenses such as Brave Lyn.

Against a unit like Brave Lyn, Nowi would normally have to go through her respectable 28 Res to deal damage. Because of adaptive damage, Nowi will instead use her 18 Def to calculate damage!

Again, this is also present in her exclusive, specially refineable weapon, Purifying Breath.

Possesses a Res debuff!

Threaten Res 3 inflicts -5 Res on foes within 2 spaces of Nowi at the start of each turn. This will be crippling to enemy units if Lightning Breath+'s adaptive damage targets a foe's already low Res stat.

Melee foes are not affected by Nowi's adaptive damage, so this skill directly increases Nowi's damage against said foes. Make sure to inflict this skill whenever Nowi can! She can take punishment as she is fairly sturdy so do not hesitate to position her deep in danger zones!

In the case of Brave Lyn, she will only rock a 13 Res if affected!

Her exclusive weapon is a more powerful version of Lightning Breath+

Purifying Breath, Nowi's exclusive weapon, possesses the same base effect of Lightning Breath+. However, it has 5 more Mt. and it also has access to a special effect refine. The refine makes Nowi an all-around better unit. Lightning Breath+ is of one the most sought for skills in the game and Nowi possessing an upgraded version speaks volumes for her potential as a unit! If she is one of your main units, this is definitely an upgrade that you should get as the value you will get from it long term will outweigh its cost.

Nowi Weaknesses

Lightning Breath+ makes specials hard to activate

Lightning Breath has Distant Counter built-in, but it slows Nowi's special trigger by 1. Because of this, we recommend inheriting skills that grants bonus cooldown charge such as the ones listed below to make-up for the higher special trigger.

• Warding Breath
• Steady Breath

This limiting mechanic is also present in her exclusive weapon, Purifying Breath.

Low Spd

Nowi has somewhat low Spd. This makes her susceptible to follow-up attacks and makes it hard for her to score follow-up attacks. We suggest inheriting Quick Riposte 3 to allow her to score follow-up attacks in the enemy phase. You can also inherit a skill like Fury 4 to improve her overall statline.

Weak to Dragon Effective Weapons

Nowi takes 1.5x damage from dragon-effective weapons like Falchion or Naga, and one blow from these types of weapons is sure to take her down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
