A mail carrier unable to express her emotions after losing her family to the Witch Hunt. Liebe slowly begins to overcome her trauma as she devotes herself to her work. But one day, she runs into the Inquisitor who took everything from her...
Liebe's pain and trauma stem from the sudden, tragic death of her parents. That day, all seemed normal in their home. Liebe and her mother had finished up a stew together, while her father enjoyed his newspaper.
Then, a loud bang on the door shook their home. The Inquisition had come to storm their family. Without second thought, Liebe's parents acted and her mom hid her in the closet as they'd be the ones to face the Inquisition. "Don't come out, no matter what happens," Liebe's mom told.
It seemed that Liebe's parents had hidden her from the Inquisition, as if she never existed. Liebe's mom protected her this way, so that she is spared from being hunted down. Hiding in the closet terrified, Liebe witnessed her Mom and Dad get dragged away by men in black robes.
The following morning, Liebe saw her parents hung in the town square.
Two years since cruelly losing her parents to the Inquisition, Liebe struggles with trauma, nights bound with nightmares of that tragic day. But, she goes on her daily life fulfilling her duties as a diligent mail courier.
As a mail courier, she encounters different kinds of people. Young women exchanging letters with lovers, old folks writing goodbyes, and even young kids who've lost parents just like her.
One day, a little girl ran up to her to relay her letter. The little girl struck up a conversation with Liebe, asking her if she too wrote letters.
Eventually, the little girl's goodnaturedness and will to commemorate her mother had encouraged Liebe to also write letters. "You know, when I write my letters I feel like I'm talking to my mommy in Heaven," the girl told Liebe.
Since then, Liebe has taken to writing to her parents in heaven every night. Eventually, she found that she has an avenue for unbridled emotional release and outpour. She'd re-learn how to shed tears again and smile. And then, how to face the world again, both with those memories from inside closet and the memories of happiness with her parents.
She had forgotten how to smile and cry, but she hadn't forgotten she was loved. And with that, she sealed every letter, unstamped with no addresses, and kept them. Though she couldn't give her letters to mom and dad anymore, Liebe did know whom to deliver them in order for her to move forward from that tragic day.
So one day, Liebe finally made her way to the church and there she chanced upon one of the men who took everything away from her. Liebe went upclose and realized how mundanely ordinary the man looked.
The person who had helped orchestrate the tragedy she endured didn't look like a demon nor a monster. He looked just like a confused man staring at unfamiliar letters that read out: "Mom, Dad. I'm still doing my best to make it on my own. From now on, I'm going to live my life to the fullest... For the both of you."
Liebe no longer felt desire for revenge nor forgiveness. Liebe was going to be okay.

"Thank you as always, Liebe." The recipient of the letter smiled at me. While I understood that I should feel happy, my heart remained still. "Of course, I'm just doing my job." I bowed, taking my leave and setting off to my next destination. While delivering mail, I encounter all kinds of emotions. People overjoyed by long-awaited messages. Girls blushing over love notes. The elderly shedding tears over letters of farewell. But through it all, my face never reacts to any of those emotions. "Thank you." "Sorry." "I love you." I understand the meanings of these words, but they stir up nothing within me. It all started that fateful day. Ever since then, it was as if time had stood still for me.
Chapter 2
---
During one of my routes, it started to rain. I hurriedly covered my mailbag with my jacket, but one letter got wet... "I'm terribly sorry. Your letter..." The elderly woman receiving it gazed sadly at the smudged ink. It was her monthly letter from her grandchild who lived far away. "Oh, it's no problem at all. Accidents happen, don't they?" She smiled gently, but a glint of loneliness lingered in her eyes. Even so, I didn't know what kind of expression I should make in response. As I was writing my work report that night, my pen froze in realization. "I let an important letter from her grandchild get wet." How could I have done that? I should've understood the importance of family better than anyone else...
Chapter 3
---
It was an ordinary day, just like any other. I still remember the smell of the stew I made together with Mom. The sounds from Dad rustling his newspaper. Then, the sudden, harsh knocks pounding on our door. "This is the Inquisition. Open up!" Mom had me hide in the closet. "Don't come out, no matter what happens," she whispered in my ear. I can still recall the way her hands trembled. I'll never forget what I saw next, as I peered through the crack in that closet. Our front door was broken down, and men in black robes stormed in. They dragged Mom and Dad away. My parents never called my name or glanced in my direction, even until the very end. I was terrified. I wanted to cry. I wanted to scream for them to stop. But, I swalled down every emotion, until my throat felt like it would bleed. I locked them all up, deep inside my heart. The next morning, I saw them. My parents, hanging in the town square. Two years have passed since then. And yet, I still feel like I'm hiding inside that closet.
Chapter 4
---
The town was abuzz as usual. As I passed through the square, I found myself stopping in my tracks. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted the black robe of an inquisitor, withat a face that looked familiar... A chill ran down my spine. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't muster up any sound. My heart was crying out, and yet my body remained still... Maybe he thought I was suspicious as I stood there, petrified. Whatever the reason, the man turned and spoke to me. "Are you a mail carrier?" My heart nearly stopped as our eyes met. He didn't recognize me. Of course he wouldn't. My parents had risked everything to hide me... "...Yes. My name is Liebe." At my reply, the man smiled kindly. "That's a fine job. Keep up the good work." That night, I had a dream. A vivid recollection of what I'd seen through the closet door. The men in black robes. My parents being dragged further and further away from me. The two of them hung up on the gallows... "Hah... Haaah..." When I woke up, only shallow breaths escaped my throat. Though I felt overwhelmed with sadness, pain, and regret, I couldn't cry even a single tear.
Chapter 5
---
"Miss, can you deliver this letter for me?" A little girl ran up to me as I trudged through my deliveries. "Dear Mommy in Heaven." I quickly scanned over those words on the envelope, written in a clumsy, childish scrawl. Then, I took the letter firmly in my hands. "Understood. I'll make sure it reaches her." "Do you write letters too, Miss?" "No, I... I just deliver them." "You know, when I write my letters I feel like I'm talking to my mommy in Heaven." After completing my daily report, I laid a sheet of paper on my desk. "Talking to my mommy in Heaven..." Remembering those words, I picked up my pen, and my hand began to move on its own. "Dear Mom and Dad, it's been a while. How are you two doing? Today, I met an interesting little girl..."
Chapter 6
---
Since then, I made it a habit to write letters to my parents every night. At first, I just wrote about my daily life. But...as I kept writing, different words began to pour out. "I feel so alone." "I want to see you both again." "I'm sorry I couldn't save you two that day." Tears I couldn't shed before began to fall, one after another, blurring the ink. That day, I'd worked together with Mom to make Dad's favorite stew. "Liebe, this is delicious!" My dad had said those words with a huge grin, enthusiastically praising me. I remember it all so clearly. What I saw from inside the closet is still burned into my memories. But, the warm moments of happiness I shared with my parents still live on within me. I'd forgotten how to smile and cry. But, I hadn't forgotten that I was loved. That's the one thing I could never ever forget. I sealed each and every letter I wrote, inside envelopes without any addresses. Those letters, filled with all of my deepest feelings, contain the very essences of the heart I lost. I had to deliver them—if I ever wanted to move forward from that day.
Chapter 7
---
I'm a mail carrier. My job is to deliver letters. So, I made my way to the church. "You're that mail carrier from before, aren't you?" He was one of them men who took everything from me. But, I'm not scared anymore. "I've come to deliver some letters." "...What's this?" For the first time, I looked directly at his face, only to realize how ordinary it was. He wasn't a terrifying demon or a cruel monster. Just an ordinary man. The confused look on his face as he stared at the letters, each with no address, was just one of the many expressions I'd seen on other recipients. "Mom, Dad. I'm still doing my best to make it on my own. From now on, I'm going to live my life to the fullest... For the both of you." I'm sure the man won't understand the meaning of the letters... and that's fine. I no longer felt the need for revenge or forgiveness. As I left the church, something wet ran down my cheek. The time that had stood still for me began to move once more. I'm...okay now.
