The Best Support Unit for Attackers

Apprentice Wanted!

Like Master Would Do

Merlyn is, perhaps, one of the best supporting witches in the game because of her two skills: 'Apprentice Wanted!' and 'Like Master Would Do.'

Apprentice Wanted increases the CRIT chance of a witch beside her, so putting Merlyn at the top of your lineup and putting Florence below her will ensure that Florence gets a 20% CRIT chance buff, which then feeds into Florence's Scarlet Shimmer skill and increases the number of attacks she does.

Meanwhile, Like Master Would Do would make sure that the attacker Merlyn is supporting will not get debuffed and keep dealing high amounts of damage.

Master and Apprentice

Vine Stream

On top of her buffs, Merlyn is also a decent healer who can keep her allies standing for at least a turn or two. The value of this skill goes down over time, however, as you face more and more enemies that can wipe your entire party in one turn. 'Vine Stream' can still be useful, however, since it also dispels enemy buffs.

Merlyn Best Runes

Boost Merlyn's MAG, SPD, EVD, and CRIT RES

Prioritize giving Merlyn SPD runes, as this will enable her to grant her Like Master Would Do ATK buff before her carry attacks, since the carry won't be able to benefit from this if they strike first. The other three recommended offensive runes are MAG, ATK, and PM. DEF Break , as these improve her damage output. However, as a support, she'll be fine with just SPD runes while you can prioritize giving higher priority units the stronger offensive runes.

Meanwhile, you can help Merlyn last longer by boosting her EVD, CRIT RES, Debuff RES, and HP with defensive runes.

The best way to use Merlyn is to pair her with Florence, who she will buff the CRIT chance of to increase her total number of attacks. This makes them a very deadly pair that will push you through most of the Main Quest.

Once Merlyn's Apprentice Wanted skill can buff the CRIT chance of two adjacent allies, putting in another Attacker next to her can boost your firepower greatly, depending on whether or not you have enough resources.

Skill Effect

Level 1 (Unlocks by default) Merlyn remembers the lessons her master taught her and saves her friends—just like her master did for her long ago. If the ally with the highest ATK is afflicted with a debuff, this skill dispels 1 debuff from them. Level 2 (Unlocks by level 81) Additionally, if the target is not afflicted with a debuff, increases their ATK by 30% for 2 turns. Level 3 (Unlocks by level 161) The amount the target’s ATK increases by becomes 40%.

Skill Effect

Level 1 (Unlocks by level 11) Merlyn unleashes a stream of ivy at the enemy and sweeps them away. Anyone entangled in its vines has their power drained away. Dispels 1 buff each from the 2 enemies with the highest remaining HP percentages, and deals 1 magical attack to equal to 320% of Merlyn’s ATK to all targets. Level 2 (Unlocks by level 21) Additionally restores HP equal to 15% of this skill’s total damage to the ally with the lowest remaining HP percentage. Level 3 (Unlocks by level 101) The magical attack’s damage becomes equal to 380% of her ATK. Level 4 (Unlocks by level 181) The targets of the magical attack become the 3 enemies with the highest remaining HP percentages.

Level 1 (Unlocks by level 41) Merlyn asks, “W-Won’t you become...my apprentice?” At the start of each turn, if 3 or more allies are alive, this skill increases the chance to deal a critical hit of both Merlyn and 1 adjacent ally by 20% (cannot be dispelled). If the number of allies who are alive is 2 or less, this skill instead increases the DEF of both Merlyn and 1 adjacent ally by 20% (cannot be dispelled). Level 2 (Unlocks by level 121) The amounts all targets’ DEF and chance to deal a critical hit increase by each become 40%. Level 3 (Unlocks by level 201) The targets of this skill become Merlyn and 2 adjacent allies.

At the start each turn or when Merlyn is attacked, if her remaining HP percentage is below 50%, this skill grants［Regeneration］to both Merlyn and 1 adjacent ally (cannot be dispelled). Each turn, at the start of the action phase, ［Regeneration］ restores HP equal to 3% of a target’s max HP to them. Level 2 (Unlocks by level 141) The amount［Regeneration］restores a target’s HP by becomes equal to 5% of their max HP. Level 3 (Unlocks by level 221) The targets of this skill become Merlyn and 2 adjacent allies.
