Kobel Story
“I'm sick o' only ever runnin' an' losin' the friends I love most...!”- Kobel
Descent From the Mountain
An easily scared and timid priestess of the Great Dragon God, Kobel always felt about her fearful self, to the point where she would beg the Great Dragon God for forgiveness. One day, after failing to fight off wolves eating the offerings to her god, she was instructed by the Great Dragon God to descend the mountain and fulfill her duty.
When she went down from the mountain, Kobel would meet Cu Sith, a person whom she confused for the Great Dragon God due to Cu Sith's horns.
The Courage of the Duke of Fran
As it turned out, the scene with Cu Sith caused by Kobel happened right in front of the Duke of Fran's mansion, the duke who would help people in need with the great staff he was chosen by. At first, Kobel thought this was the duty that she had to fulfill, to help the Duke of Fran in his adventures.
However, whenever a battle would happen, Kobel would end up too scared to fight. Frustrated at her lack of courage, she asked the Duke what compels him to be so brave. The duke told her he was scared, terrified even, but he pushed through because he couldn't turn his back on those who needed him.
Kobel was amazed at the Duke and ashamed at herself.
Cerberus and Fenrir's Capture
Cerberus and Fenrir were old friends of Kobel, friends that she holds dear but feels unworthy of due to her abandonding them a long time ago. One day, Cerberus and Fenrir were captured by the Inquisition.
Everyone was in a rush to rescue them. Cu Sith asked Kobel to help, but, held down by fear and self-doubt, Kobel could not muster the will to join.
Cu Sith apologized for asking too much of Kobel, seeing how much the priestess was trembling at the thought of fighting, and left the room.
The Great Dragon God's Call
Kobel prayed to the Great Dragon God, begging them to protect everyone in her place. Yet, the Great Dragon God responded, "Fulfill thy duty." Kobel was terrified. She said she couldn't do it, but then, she heard something in the wind. It was Cerberus and Fenrir, on the run and hurt.
The Great Dragon God's Call has finally reached Kobel, in the form of her dear friends. Even if she's scared, she will not turn her back on those in need because she's sick of running and losing the friends she loves most.
Kobel's Duty
Kobel managed to fight off the inquisitors and locate Cerberus and Fenrir. When she found them, she broke down in tears.
She apologized for her cowardice, for shaking in fear at the face of adversity, for abandoning them back then. She was happy, happy that she was able to save them
She was happy that the Great Dragon God gave her the courage to save her friends.
She was happy that she was able to fulfill her duty.
And because of that, Kobel could manage to like herself a little bit more.

| Uuu...! I really am no good~...! A pack o' wolves was eatin' an offerin' to the Great Dragon God. But, instead o' fightin' 'em off, all I could do was hide in a cave nearby... I always do this...! Whenever somethin' bad happens, I get so scared, my body refuses to move... I'm supposed to be a priestess servin' the Great Dragon God, too... which makes me even more pathetic...! Great Dragon God, Please, find it in yer heart to forgive me for bein' so worthless...! ...Huh...? ..."Descend this mountain, and fulfill thy duty"...? Leave this mountain...?! D-Does that mean I'm bein' thrown out?! Th-The Great Dragon God must be real mad at me...! |

| Uuu...! Forgive me, Great Dragon God...! I left the mountain just as yuh willed me to, but... what could I do to appease yer anger...? Just what is my duty supposed to be, anyway...? Please tell me, Great Dragon God~...! [nl Haah...! The person leavin' that mansion has horns on their head... Don't tell me the Great Dragon God has appeared before me in answer to my prayers...! "Great Dragon God...! What is my duty, anyway?! I don't have the first clue...!" "Huh...?! Yuh aren't the Great Dragon God? But yuh've got the same beautiful set o' horns as the Great Dragon God does...!" "If yuh aren't the Great Dragon God, then who are yuh?...'Cu Sith'...?" With a troubled look on 'er face, Miss Cu Sith said, "People are staring so could you stop crying like that?" I then hurried an' looked around us. A bunch o' strangers were starin' at us, their eyes as wide as saucers... Or rather, they were starin' at me, who was bawlin' my eyes out in Miss Cu Sith's arms... Waaah! This is the most embarrassin' moment of my life...! |

| I can't believe this place was the Duke o' Fran's mansion...! When I apologized for causin' such a scene, the Duke just told me, "Don't worry about it" Hehe...! What a kind person he is...! I heard the Duke was the one chosen by a great staff, who helps people an' countries in need. Could the Great Dragon God's will... be about me helpin' the Duke...? Or so I thought... But even after tryin' to help the Duke... when it came time for battle, I got so scared I couldn't move... But the sight o' everyone fightin' beside the Duke without backin' down... shone brighter than anythin' I'd ever seen before...! When the battle was over, I tried askin' him myself "How do yuh not feel too scared to fight?" An' he said... " Of course I feel scared. But I still fight because I just can't turn my back on those in need." The Duke really is amazin'...! I can't believe I thought someone like me... could be of any help... |

| I can't believe Fenrir an' Cerberus are at the Duke's mansion, too! We became friends back on that mountain! This takes me back... I remember the three o' us foragin' for wiledible plants, an' chasin' after bugs... It wasn't for very long, but it sure was fun. I'm real glad the two of them are able to smile like that again now. Despite what happened, n' all... A pang rang through my chest. What happened to them was likely all because I...! "...! Oh no it's nothin', Fenrir, Cerberus. So, don't pay me no mind!" "So, yuh both traveled to a bunch o' countries with the Duke, an' even made candy together? Huh... Knowin' yuh've made so many memories makes me happy, too." "I can make memories with the two o' yuh from now on, too...? I'd sure like to... if I could..." But, I don't have teh right to... 'Cause I... I was the one who abandoned the two o' yuh... |

Everyone's in a big rush... "Miss Cu Sith, did somethin' happen?quot; " Fenrir an' Cerberus got captured by the Inquisition while out shoppin;'...?!" "That's awful...! This is really bad...!" "Let's go save them together'...? Th-There's no way I can do that...!" "Even if I went, I wouldn't be o' any help...! I don't have the power to protect anyone...!" " You can't know for sure until you try"... That's what Miss Cu Sith said, but all I could do was hang my head in shame... "Sorry for asking the impossible of you," Seein' how much I was tremblin', Miss Cu Sith said those words before leavin' the room... I... really am no good...! |

A-Are yuh tellin' me to go save 'em myself, Great Dragon God?! But, me prayin' like this is the most I can do...! Huh...?! The wind suddenly picked up...! ...I can hear somethin' on the wind... ..! That's Cerberus's voice...! Fenrir is hurt...?! At this rate, just like before, the two o' them'll be...! ...I know that, but my legs won't move...! This is just the same as last time... All I ever did... was shut down an' run away...! I always heard the rollin' thunder on that mountain in Lupus the very cries o' Cerberus... Yet, I'm still too scared to move...! "Of course I feel scared. But, I still fight because I just can't turn my back on those in need." Oh yeah...! That's what the Duke said... Just by wantin' to save people, he can always jump straight into danger...! I want to be like that, too...! Because... Because...! | "Haah, haah...! I-I somehow... managed to fight off those Inquisitors...!" "Is everyone alright...?! ...Fenrir, Cerberus...? So yuh two are both safe an' sound, too...!" "Uuu... Thank goodness... Thank goodness...! I'm sorry... I'm really sorry...! I wanted to apologize... this whole time...!" "Even though I could always hear the rollin' thunder on that mountain in Lupus the very cries o' Cerberus, I...!" "I hated myself for only ever shakin' in fear...! That's why... I just couldn't stand to run away anymore...!" "I'm sorry...! So sorry... I-I couldn't do anythin' to help the two o' yuh back then...!" "Finally bein' able to protect the two o' yuh, my best friends... makes me so happy...!" Since all three of us started bawlin' in each other's arms, our faces got all wet... But, all our tears felt warm, too... Thank yuh for everything, Great Dragon God! Since I didn't have the courage to help back then, yuh gave me one more chance, huh...? Thanks to yuh... I feel like I can finally start to like myself a little more...! |
