This article aims to explain the different terms newer players may encounter in the game that they may not understand. Read on to learn more about what these terms mean.

The continent in which the game is set in. This is where everything in the game's story unfolds.
Augments are an important feature in this game that strengthens a specific stat of your character's gear. The two types of augments are Holy and Dark. You may augment any piece of gear with by consuming Holy Gear, Dark Gear, and Dark Perfume.
Awakening is the process of increasing a witch's rarity. Doing so increases your witch's max level, which not only heightens your character's potential, but also improves the base stats and abilities of your witch at certain levels.
The Box tab in the game opens up the item box. Here, you can find all the items you have including gear, consumables, materials, runes, and parts. This is also where you can upgrade your gear or smelt them, as well as open chests, mystery runes, and sealed chests.
BP is MementoMori's power level measurement. One's total BP is determined by the witches of your current team along with their upgrades and gear. Note that BP is only an indicator. A team with a much lower BP can win against one with a million BP advantage and vice-versa.
Buffs are status effects that strengthen a witch. These effects vary, depending on the specific status effect. This can range from a simple increase in a witch's stats, to more unique effects such as being invulnerable, or untargetable.
A team's most powerful unit, often an attacker, is called a carry. Like the term suggests, the carry is responsible for carrying their team to victory. The most powerful and effective carry units are Cordie and Florence.
The Church of Longinus was once a beacon of light. However, a demon took control of Elfriede, the Pope of the church, and has started a bloody campaign to rid the continent of witches. With a demon at its helm and armies of knights at its disposal, the Church became the face for the continent's darkest times.
Alexandra Profile and Memories
Consumables refer to limited-use items that can be exchanged for things like EXP, Kindling Orbs, gacha pulls, Diamonds, Runes, and more. Some examples of these consumables include: EXP Orbs, Kindling Orbs, Mystery Runes, chests and keys, character shards, and Diamond bags.
The game features different types of currencies that you can use to exchange them for valuable items, consumables, or even gacha pulls. The different types of currencies are the following: Diamonds, Gold, Event Currencies, Character Coins, Guild Coins, Grand Battle Coins, Space-Time Coins, Use Battle Coins, Legend Coins, and Scarlet Jewels.
Debuffs are status effects that negatively affect a witch's ability. These effects vary, depending on the specific status effect. This can range from a simple decrease in a witch's stats, to more unique effects such as being immobilized for an entire turn, taking poison damage each turn, or linking two characters together to each receive part of the damage their ally receives.
DPS is an acronym for Damage per Second. It can either refer to the actual damage per second a witch deals, or the sub-category of witches that specialize in dealing damage.
A happy but impoverished country in the southernmost part of the continent, the Duchy of Fran is a beautiful country surrounded with flowers and windmills. The previous dukes have prioritized the happiness of its citizens, and is considered by many the happiest country in the land, despite its lack of industries. However, the ensuing Witch Hunt sparked violence and paranoia that traumatized Natalia into becoming a Witch of Qlipha called The Witch of Mourning Flowers.
Natasha Builds: Best Runes and Team Comps
A kind man who stands against the Witch Hunt and helps all the witches he encounters, as well as grants them refuge. The Duke of Fran possesses the Staff of Tikkun, which was said to have been from the angels, that possesses the power to vanquish demons and cleanse witches.

EXP refers to the green orbs that you use to increase your characters' level. These are abundant, and can be acquired passively through Auto-Battles and Boss Battles, as well as through EXP Orb consumables.
EXP & Kindling Orb Farming Guide
In MementoMori, both gacha and invoke refers to the randomized rewards that a player can earn by playing the game. This typically include witches, but also gear and items later on in the game.
Current Character Gacha Available
Gear refers to the different items a witch can equip to enhance her stats. There are 6 gear types in the game, and a witch can equip one of each at a time. The 6 types are the following: Weapon, Accessories, Head, Hands, Body, Feet. Each gear type grants bonuses to only a specific stat.
Guild are the equivalent of clans in other games, and refer to the different teams/groups of players within a world. Joining a guild allows players to participate in a variety of different features and game modes. These include Guild Raid], Guild Battle, Grand Battle, as well having the ability to earn Guild Coins to spend in the Guild Shop.
The country ruled by the Pope and Church of Longinus. It is a sacred place on the surface, and is a popular destination visited by both religious followers and non-believer tourists alike. Its downfall was brought upon by the Curse of Swords, which came from a nun brought into a reeducation of heretics program. This nun turned into the Witch of Sacred Swords, and has caused swords of light to fall from the sky and decimate the city.

Kindling Orbs, like EXP Orbs, are used to increase your characters' level at important levels where they receive power-spikes. Unlike its green counterpart, these are tough to come by, especially later on in the game. These can be obtained through Auto-Battles, the Temple of Illusions, the Fountain of Prayers, and the shop.
EXP & Kindling Orb Farming Guide
The Kingdom of Byrune is one of the top places in the continent for scientific research. On the surface, they claimed to have been researching ways to accelerate and improve the growth of crops, but this is merely a cover-up for the more sinister things at hand. This kingdom has focused on conducting banned experiments on living organisms, and has created synthetic creatures and artificial lifeforms. They're responsible for creating a man-made witch, that was meant to be the ultimate weapon capable of taking down an entire nation. However, this backfired when they couldn't control the witch. The witch has been named The Witch of Rust, and she unleashed her Curse of Rust to cause the kingdom's downfall.
Knights of Longinus are the soldiers who fight for the Church of Longinus. Tasked by their pope with finding and killing all of the witches in the continent, the Knights of Longinus commit vile and unspeakable acts throughout their bloody witch hunt. The Knights of Longinus were not always like this, as they were symbols of honor and righteousness not too long ago. Like the church and their pope, the order has lost its way.
Arianrhod Profile and Memories
Lament refers to a character's official song and music video. These are original tracks made specifically for each character in the game.
LR is the most powerful rarity in the game. Hence, getting your main units to LR should be your goal if you wish to get stronger. LR is not the end, and you could raise your witch's rarity even further, up to LR7 if you have the hefty resource requirement for it.
Materials are a classification of items that include your currencies, upgrade materials, tickets, and more. These materials are useful for buying things in the shop, pulling characters, strengthening your witches, and more.
Memories contain the backstory for each character, told through that specific character's POV. Leveling up a certain amount unlocks these chapters, and reading through them for the first time will grant you diamonds.
List of All Character Profiles
The least powerful rarity type. You can identify N characters by the bronze border around the witch's icon. Witches of this rarity are not good enough to be even considered on your team. These units are typically released for Kindling Orbs and Character Coins, which are very valuable things to have.
Player Rank refers to your account level. Ranking up raises your Witches' HP and ATK, as well as unlocks the level link feature and increases your slots. There's also a leaderboard, which your account may be featured in if your rank is high enough.
How to Unlock All Game Modes and Features
The highest authoritative figure of the Church of Longinus. As the church was once a beacon of light, so were its previous popes. However, the possessed Elfriede's reign brought in a terrible and bloody period in the history of the continent.
A beautiful land once known for its lush forests and ancient castle, the Principality of Brook is a naturally good place for witches to live thanks to the rich magic power flourishing through the land. However, during the time of the Witch Hunt, it is now where witches have seeked refuge in and hide. Once hailed as the land with the most beautiful greenery, it is now frozen through and through thanks to the Curse of Ice, as the devastating ice powers of Lunalynn has been unleashed after being tortured by the Inquisition.
R refers to the rarity with the silver border. It is the second weakest rarity type. They're not ideal to have on your team, but they are very useful as you get a whole lot of these R-rarity witches and you could use them to awaken your other units.
Rarity refers to how powerful a witch is at base and how much a character has been awakened. Higher-rarity witches are often stronger than lower-rarity units, and their base rarity also typically determine how good a character can be. Rarity affects a unit's base stats, max level, and ability level. The order is as follows: N, R, SR, SR+, SSR, SSR+, UR, UR+ and LR. Witches can have a base rarity of N, R, and SR, with Base N units being typically exchanged for character coins, the Base R units being fodder to awaken your main units, and the Base SR units being the ones you'd want to invest in.
The Republic of Nedel was once a thriving city for traders, as this housed a whole network of canals, opening up different trade routes. Grand and extravagant buildings were home to the city's elite. Here, the economic gap between the rich and poor has grown to be quite significant. The greed that caused this, also became responsible for the rise of The Witch of Conflagration, and her Curse of Flames has burned down the city into ashes, with flaming tornadoes still wreaking havoc.
Runes refer to power-ups that you can attach to your gear enhance their corresponding stat. Each piece of gear can hold up to 4 runes. These can be acquired through Mystery Runes, or bought in the Rune Shop for Rune Tickets.
Shards are consumable items that you can trade for witches. There are 3 types of Shards in the game. Witch's Shards (R), Witch's Shards (SR), and Specific-Character Shards. 60 shards of a specific kind are required to earn one new characters.
One of the three types or classes in the game. Snipers can only equip firearms as weapons, and deal physical damage. Their ATK scales with their primary attribute, DEX, which also improve a witch's EVD and CRIT.
A witch's soul is their type or element. It is indicated by the colored circular icon within the top-left part of a character's icon. Souls have an advantage over a certain soul, a weakness to another certain soul, and go neutral against the rest. Additionally, fielding 3 or more souls within a team grant Soul Affinity Bonuses, which increase your units' ATK and HP.
Sorcerers are one of the three classes or types in a game. These units can only equip tomes as their weapon, and deal magical damage. Their ATK scales with their primary attribute, MAG, which also improve a witch's M. DEF and Debuff ACC.
Refers to the rarity of units with a gold frame. When awakened once, these become SR+ units, and are indicated by the gold and purple logo at the lower right corner of the icon. SR units have a max level of 100, while SR+ units max out at 120. Base SR units are the most powerful witches, and are the ones you should consider investing in.
Refers to the rarity of units with a purple frame. When awakened once, they become SSR+ units. SSR units have a max level of 140 while SSR+ units max out at 160. SSR units are witches that have been awakened from SR twice.
TIckets are materials that you can exchange for things like runes, gacha pulls, boss challenges, and Tower of Infinity challenges. Some of the different kind of tickets include: Gacha Tickets, Rune Tickets, and Boss Tickets.
Trials are the different game modes that you can play other than the main story. The 6 different modes are the following: Cave of Space-Time, Fountain of Prayers, Battle League, Legend League, and Tower of Infinity. Each of these trials reward players with a variety of valuable resources.
There are a total of three types or classes in the game: Warriors, Snipers, and Sorcerers.
Characters with the red border around them are UR units. When awakened once, they become UR+ units. UR units have a max level of 180, while UR+ units have a max level of 200. Next to LR, UR and UR+ are the strongest rarity in the game, and require lots of witch copies as well as Kindling Orbs.

The deadly campaign against witches ordered by Pope Elfriede while she was possessed. In this dark period, Knights of Longinus would track and kill all of the witches they encounter or have heard of.
Witches of Qlipha are powerful witches who have lost control of themselves and their powers. These witches have gone mad, and their powers have wreaked havoc across their entire countries. They are one of the antagonists in the game.
