Each of the three paths has a different ending in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, as well as a secret ending available before the end of the game. Learn how many endings there are in the game, how to unlock each of these endings, and what happens in each of them.
List of Contents
Scarlet Blaze | Azure Gleam | Golden Wildfire |

Side with Edelgard and the Empire | Side with Dimitri and the Kingdom | Side with Claude and the Alliance |
The game is divided into three Paths – Scarlet Blaze (Black Eagles), Azure Gleam (Blue Lions), and Golden Wildfire (Golden Deer) depending on which House you choose in Chapter 2. Each of these Paths has completely different missions, and each yield a different ending to the game.
Which House Should You Choose?
Although not a true Secret Ending per se, recruiting Byleth will unlock the secret additional Chapters 15 and 16 after completing Chapter 14. These Chapters give closure to the Arval storyline, and while they do not occur at the end of the game, they serve as an essential part of the game's conclusion.
As the storyline with Arval follows the same progression in all three Paths, the contents of Chapters 15 and 16 do not vary significantly across the three Paths and cannot be considered three separate Endings. However, the following points varies, so true completionists will want to recruit Byleth on all three paths to experience each version.
Each of the three endings to the story results in the main antagonist being toppled – in the Scarlet Blaze and Azure Gleam endings, Thales, who has been manipulating Edelgard and the Empire, is killed. While in the Golden Wildfire ending, Rhea is killed, and the Central Church is weakened.
However, in the final story text, which rolls after the cutscene, the war between the three powers continues. Only the Golden Wildfire ending mentions that Claude proposes an ending to the war, the result of which is left up in the air.
None of the three endings paints a happy picture of the future despite the death of the tyrants behind the game's events. One can only hope for an era of peace in Fodlan to someday arrive.
Edelgard and Shez prepare to kill Thales, but before they do, Rhea appears and engages in an explosive magical battle with Thales.
Both Rhea and Thales presumably die, and with the rulers of both dominant forces in Fodlan suddenly gone, the battle ends with Edelgard looking hopefully to a free era in the future.
It is now 1183, Blue Sea Moon. The Empire has freed Garreg Mach and put the Knights of Seiros and those who slither in the dark to rout. Amidst the fighting, Archbishop Rhea and Thales both go missing. With no one to lead, the Central Church's influence wanes, and those who slither in the dark vanish. But due to Claude's breaking of a pact to serve his own ambitions, the Empire and Leicester Alliance soon return to war. Bloodshed between the three ruling powers of Fodlan – Empire, Alliance, and the beleaguered Kingdom – rages on with no end in sight. |
Dimitri overcomes Thales and kills him, while Edelgard looks on, defeated.
Shez and Dimitri return to Claude, who seems to begrudgingly accept Rhea as an ally for the future. They look up into the sky and consider the next step they will take.
It is now 1183, Great Tree Moon. The Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, beside the Leicester Alliance and the Church of Seiros, emerged victorious against the forces of Adrestia.
With the loss of Regent Aegir and many of its leading strategists, the Empire has been forced back on all fronts, radically transforming the power structure throughout Fodlan. In pursuit of their ideals, the young leaders press ever southward to crush the Empire for good. None know what tomorrow this war may bring, nor what future awaits Fodlan... |
In a departure from the other two endings, Claude and Shez fights Rhea instead of Thales. She transforms into a dragon but is slain.
Claude and Shez look upon the dragon and reflect on the path ahead. Interestingly, neither Edelgard nor Dimitri appear in this ending.
It is now 1183, Blue Sea Moon. The Federation has joined with the Empire to invade the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. Claude sought not to conquer the Kingdom, but to destroy the Central Church. After Archbishop Rhea's defeat, the church has lost much of its martial prowess. Tensions continue between the Empire and Kingdom. Having now reached his goal, Claude proposes an end to the war. Yet it remains uncertain if either side will accept. |
Without warning, Shez becomes possessed by Arval, unleashing their mysterious power and attacking Byleth. The other party members will go after Shez, and a battle will begin where Shez must be defeated. In the end, Solon will appear as a boss and must be defeated to complete the chapter.
Solon will escape being killed by the leader of the House you chose, but Shez, still possessed, shows up and finishes Solon off. This sacrifice creates a mysterious portal to a dimension of darkness called Zahras. The heads of all three Houses arrive on the scene but are swallowed up by the portal and warped to Zahras, where Chapter 16 will begin.
Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude must work together with Shez to defeat Arval, who is being controlled by a force called Epimenides. At the end of the chapter, Epimenides is defeated, and Arval disappears for the remainder of the story.
This serves as an ending to the saga of Shez and Arval, which is not explained in any of the game's main endings.
Just wanted to note that in Scarlet Blaze's ending, Claude doesn't break the pact if you recruit Byleth, making the ending arguably better as it's Empire and Alliance vs Kingdom.
