Chapter 08 Walkthrough - The Maiden's Peril (Scarlet Blaze)

Mercedes can be recruited using the Persuade Strategy during the Battle Prep part of the main quest. You need at least 20 Strategy Points to recruit her.

Jeritza is required in order to recruit Mercedes to your party.

The Defense of the Silver Maiden Walkthrough

	Objectives
*	The Fortress is filled with doors that need to be unlocked. It is a good idea to bring a unit such as Petra with Locktouch to open doors easier. You will also need to bring Jeritza if you want to recruit Mercedes.
1	Reach the Rowe Soldiers before Gwendal is defeated! The battle starts with your team at the south end of the fortress. Fan your troops out to have a pair move to the west, and a pair to the east. These pairs will best stay on the perimiter of the map. With the rest of the team moving towards Gwendal's position in the north.
2	Disable the controls in the city streets and open the rampart doors! The gates to the fortress have to be opened by disabling the controls on the southern corners of the map. Each pair you sent out earlier should be able to take down the ramparts. After securing the strongholds, command your troops to Operate the controls!
3	With the main gate open, you'll then have to access the controls to the central gates. Seize the strongholds where they are located to Operate them.
4	Defeat Mercedes! / Defeat and recruit Mercedes! The controls found in City Center East will be guarded by Mercedes. If you chose to initiate the Persuade Mercedes strategy, this will be your chance to defeat and recruit her.
5	After some time, Gwendal will be in even more danger. This will allow you to initiate the Gaspard Reinforcements strategy to send him some back-up
6	After both of the central controls have been activated, the rampart gates on the west and east side of the fortress will open up. Send a pair to both ends to advance and access the next pair of controls. Reinforcements will appear at the southern part of the map, so keep half of your team there to take them out.
7	Once the controls on either side have been activated, let each troop continue to the northern corners to access the controls that will deactivate the traps.
8	Defeat Dedue! Meanwhile, have the troops that are in the middle push north. The next main enemy in your way will be Dedue. Take him out as fast as you can as you work towards rescuing Gwendal.
9	Defeat Dimitri! With Dedue out of the way and the traps disabled with the controls on the northwest and northeast ramparts. Charge in to Gwendal's position and defend him from Dimitri.
10	Defeat Ingrid! With Dimitri defeated, Ingrid will swoop in to try and defend Dimitri. Focus your attention on taking her down with the rest of your troops taking the surrounding strongholds. If you initiated the strategy to activate the hidden staircases, then your units on the perimeter will now have an easy way into the northern half of the fortress.
