Awakening in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes (FEW3H) grants your character different beneficial effects which can significantly help you on the battlefield. Read on to find out how to Awaken your character, fill up your Awakening Gauge, and learn all the effects you can get from being Awakened.
List of Contents
During the battle, characters can activate a state called Awakening to give themselves different beneficial effects that can help them on the battlefield. This effect lasts for a long time, and characters will remain in that state until the gauge is depleted or when the character performs a Warrior Special.
To Awaken your character, you need to fill up your Awakening gauge first. Once you have it filled up, simply press both the R and A buttons together and this will Awaken your character. Pressing the same button again will cancel the Awakened state.

How to Fill Awakening Gauge |
---|
|
The easiest way to fill your Awakening gauge is to just deal as much damage to your enemies as you can. Make sure you target groups of enemies to increase your damage.
Stunning your opponents and executing a Critical Rush will help fill your character's Awakening gauge. You can perform Critical Rush faster if you fight enemies you have an advantage over, as their stun gauge depletes much more quickly.
You can also fill your Awakening gauge up by picking up blue tonics from defeating named enemies you encounter on the battlefield. This method requires a bit of luck since the item drops you get are usually randomized.
Item Drops Explained: Recovery Items and Resources
Another way of filling up your Awakening gauge is by performing an Adjutant Follow-up. This can only be triggered if you have a full Adjutant Attack Gauge, which you accumulate from attacking enemies.
Once it's filled up, you can trigger the follow-up by sending an enemy flying or guarding an enemy attack. You can fill this up much faster if you have a high support level.
Before heading to battle, make sure to cook and eat food that can benefit you in filling up the Awakening Gauge. You can talk to the Kitchen Master at the Recreation Quarter and select a recipe that affects the Awakening Gauge.
Keep in mind that you'll need activity points to be able to start cooking, as well as the resources needed for the recipe. You can get the resources from resource pouches by defeating enemies, while activity points are refilled at the start of a new chapter.
List of All Facilities
During battles, you can find various breakable pots scattered throughout the battlefield. You can break these, and depending on their color, grants you different beneficial effects, much like Item Drops. The blue pot, in particular, is used to get Blue Tonics, which increases your Awakening gauge.
Awakened State Effects |
---|
|
Any attacks from an Awakened character will make the stun gauge appear and will have their stun gauge deplete faster regardless of class advantage. This is very useful, especially when you're at a class disadvantage, to quickly stun your opponents and be able to perform Critical Rush more easily.
When a character is Awakened, regardless of the damage they're taking, their HP will never reach zero. This means that as long as they're under the effect, they'll never be defeated no matter what.
Use this to your advantage when fighting strong foes or when you're caught in a dangerous situation where your character is in a critical condition.
When you have an adjutant assigned, the Adjutant Attack Gauge will not deplete during the entire duration of the Awakened state. You can spam this as much as you want to your advantage to create longer combos with your adjutant.
Characters will also be able to access the Warrior Special during the Awakened state without the need to fill the warrior gauge up. However, using it will end the Awakened state prematurely.
It's better to let your Awakened state expire, as your character will automatically perform a Warrior Special on its own when the duration ends.
When characters are awakened, defeating enemies will grant you bonuses depending on how many you defeat. These bonuses include increased experience points for levels, increased drop rate, and enhanced attributes for dropped weapons.
Enemies Defeated | Bonuses |
---|---|
40 | Level EXP Up |
50 | Class Level EXP Up |
75 | Forge Count Up |
100 | Attributes Enchanced for Dropped Weapons |
120 | Drop Rate Up |
It's best to save up your Awakening gauge until you're sure there are enough enemies to defeat to get these bonuses quickly and efficiently.

An improvement over previous Warrior games is that you can stop Awakening before it's run out. Press R+A a second time. I'm playing through on Normal and only getting an Awakening on the last chapter of each section, usually, so in the rest of the cases it might not change anything to let your Awakening run out once you've activated.
