Materials can be obtained from Survey Spots after finishing a side mission on the war map.
Some survey spots only need to be visited before you can get an item as a reward while others need you to make a choice, pay gold, or meet a certain condition before you can be rewarded with the gift.
Materials can also be obtained by collecting and trading Smithing Stones with the Supply Master. It is recommended to trade unused materials and equipment in exchange for Smithing Stones to get better materials and ores!
Maxing out the Facility Level of the Supply Depot is possibly the best way to farm materials in the long run. What this does is that it decreases the exchange rate of Smithing Stones with materials and ores, as well as having a wider range of supplies you can claim.
That way, you can exchange your unused materials for the ones you need at the best deals!
Materials can be used to expand Facilities in the Base Camp. Expanding a facility improves it and unlocks more activities that you and your units can do.
