Askr
[9.5/10] |
Askr is a very solid Mythic hero that can serve as a team's tank, with his true damage reduction making him incredibly sturdy.
He is also a powerful support unit with his Opened Domain granting in-combat bonuses and applying a Joint Drive Time's Pulse effect to his allies.
As for the new Thief units, Thief Nina is the best of the bunch with her Shadowy Quill granting 【Canto (Recall)】 on top of its already impressive offensive prowess. Being able to immediately kill an enemy unit with the help of bonus stats, true damage, and applying adaptive damage, and then immediately retreating back to safety with 【Canto (Recall)】 enables a lot of strategies.
It gets even better when paired with Wings of Mercy 3 and an ally beacon unit - sniping units across the entire map and retreating back to safety is possible with this setup.

Legendary Byleth (M)

Legendary Caeda

It is currently Water Season month, and the most expected Water Legendary heroes are these four.
Legendary Chrom is a well-known menace with his To Change Fate! making AI prediction a bit more difficult and potentially leading to one of your units getting sniped.
Legendary Azura has an improved refresh skill in Gray Waves II which grants an extra action, bonus movement, and 【Null Panic】 to ensure that the bonuses from refined Prayer Wheel stick. She makes AI prediction difficult as well.
Legendary Byleth (M) can safely attack most units in Arena with the combo of Professorial Text and Windsweep 3. Together with a pre-charged Sublime Heaven with the help of Time's Pulse 3, he can attack without fear of retaliation and defeat a unit in combat.
Legendary Caeda is the bonus unit for this season. Her Wing-Lifted Spear has dual effectiveness, grants bonuses in combat, and steals the foe's bonuses as well. Faithful Loyalty can setup a Vantage effect, and paired with her weapon and Distant Storm, can be difficult to pierce through without getting a unit killed first.
Legendary Chrom can be countered by being aware of threat ranges and ensuring that his AI does not activate To Change Fate!. Position your units so that when the enemies approach, none of them are both in your threat range and in Chrom's range to activate his Assist.
Additionally, most Chrom builds in Arena have dropped Close Counter, allowing you to approach him with melee units and attack without fear of retaliation.
Legendary Azura is also countered by keeping your units away from extended ranges where an enemy refreshed with Gray Waves II can reach. You can then attack stragglers one by one, leaving Azura last for your bonus unit to defeat.
Legendary Byleth (M) is a heavy hitter, but his bulk is below average. Keep your units out of range and attack him in player phase.
Legendary Caeda does not have a Vantage effect unless she enters combat first, or she is fighting an armored or cavalry unit. Attack her first with an infantry or armored unit (ideally one which is immune to armor-effective damage like Ascended Idunn) and defeat her this way.
Jötunheimr Castle has been nerfed by changing the two unbreakable pillars into breakable structures that require 2 hits each.
This is a much needed nerf as having three entire lanes blocked off by these pillars and the Fortress (D) creates a very nasty choke point that is difficult to approach.

Askr
[9.5/10] |
Summer Edelgard
[9.5/10] |
Thief Nina
[9.5/10] |
Medeus
[9.5/10] |
The Aether Raids (non-Chaos) meta remains unchanged from previous versions, except for the addition of the new Summer units.
Catria Balls and Sigurd Cavlines still reign supreme on Defense teams. Players should be prepared to deal with these Defense archetypes by preparing raiding parties that are specifically tailor-made to dismantle these archetypes.
The four units shown above are recent additions to the metagame. Medeus is already part of the metagame, but becomes much more important due to new skills released.
Askr is a very solid Mythic hero that can serve as a team's tank, with his true damage reduction making him incredibly sturdy.
He is also a powerful support unit with his Opened Domain granting in-combat bonuses and applying a Joint Drive Time's Pulse effect to his allies. This effect is a huge boon for Galeforce teams; reducing the entire team's Special cooldown is a very powerful effect for these teams.
Thief Nina serves as a premiere hit-and-run unit, especially with the extra stats from being a bonus unit. Being able to snipe an enemy unit and retreat back to the initial position, protected by a Safety Fence, is an incredibly strong and safe strategy.
It gets even better with Wings of Mercy based teams, as Thief Nina can warp to nearby spaces, defeat a foe, and return back to her initial position is just oppressive.
Summer Edelgard remains a staple for Galeforce and Player Phase teams to abuse. Even with just her base kit, she can engage and defeat multiple enemies. By inheriting Galeforce onto her, she can clear up to three foes in one turn!
Medeus is already a staple unit in the metagame with his defensive bulk, but now with all sorts of Canto effects released in the Risk and Reward banner, Canto Control 3 becomes even more important than ever.
Askr has high physical bulk but his magical bulk is reliant on his true damage reduction. He will not be able to withstand multiple magical attacks in a row. Ensure that your Defense team has multiple sources of magic damage.
Thief Nina and all the other Thief units with special Canto mechanics are shut down by both Canto Control 3 and 【Warp Bubble】 effects.from skills like Legendary Myrrh's Darkling Guardian. Canto Control 3 being an inheritable skill is easier to fit into defense teams.
To prepare your Defense team against Summer Edelgard, ensure that you field a unit that wins the Heavy Blade check against her. This prevents her from accelerating her Special and activating a potential Galeforce.
Medeus is commonly found in Catria Ball teams as his presence deters offensive player phase strategies reliant on Canto effects and prevents the ball from getting worn down by splash damage effects and Bolt Towers.
Bring a Save Ball composition and position in such a way where only a small number of units can engage into the ball. Don't force the entire ball to attack in one turn, as your tanks cannot withstand multiple attacks boosted by the Triangle Attack buff that Bridal Catria provides.
