+Def / -Spd

The best IVs for Harmonized Brave Hector are +Def and -Spd. Boosting Def improves Hector's bulk and allows him to excel further in his role as a Savior tank.

As a Savior tank, Hector's entire job is to soak up incoming damage and survive against enemy attacks, protecting his team from harm. Boosting bulk over offense is the common choice to help Hector with this role.

Hector's low base 21 Spd is a clear dump stat and can be taken as a bane. However, this is only the case if you can boost his Spd to 30 in order to trigger Patience.

If you cannot bring a -Spd Harmonized Brave Hector to 30 Spd, we recommend taking -HP as a bane instead.

Lack of In-Combat Bonus Stats

Ostian Backbone's bonus visible stats are great, until you realize that it replaced the usual in-combat bonus stats that most metagame heroes receive on their exclusive skills.

The actual amount of stats is reduced from what is usually is, making it a net negative in stats granted.

However, visible stats grant additional benefits like reducing incoming damage from area-of-effect Specials and/or winning stat checks against foes with check-based skills.
