| What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Haulin' Harpoon grants Lapis 【Canto (Dist. +1; Max 4)】, 【Distant Swap】 after Canto, bonus stats, a Preempt Pulse effect, bonus true damage, true DR, and true DR on Special trigger, inflicts 【Share Spoils+】 and deals 10 post-combat damage to foe and nearby foes after combat. |
|
Might: 16 Range: 1 Enables 【Canto (Dist. +1; Max 4)】. Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). When Canto triggeres enables unit to use 【Distant Swap】 on ally (this effect is not treated as an Assist skill; if similar effects are active, this effect does not trigger). If unit initiates combat or is within 2 spaces of an ally, grants bonus to unit's Atk/Spd/Def/Res = number of allies within 3 rows or 3 columns centered on unit x 3, + 5 (max 14), grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before unit's first attack, unit deals +X x 8 damage (max 32; excluding area-of-effect Specials; X = number of foes within 3 spaces of target, including target), and reduces damage from foe's attacks by 20% of unit's Spd during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials), and also, reduces damage by an additional 20% of unit's Spd when foe's attack triggers foe's Special (excluding area-of-effect Specials). If unit initiates combat, after combat, deals 10 damage to foe and foes within 2 spaces of that foe, and inflicts 【Share Spoils+】 on those foes through their next actions. 【Share Spoils+】 Inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-5 on unit during combat and neutralizes "reduces damage by X%" effects from unit's non-Special skills (excluding area-of-effect Specials). Once per turn for the entire map, if foe initiates combat and if unit is defeated in combat, grants another action to that foe after combat (this effect has priority over other similar effects aside from Share Spoils; if this status and Share Spoils are both active at the same time, they are both treated as having been triggered; other similar effects aside from Share Spoils are treated as not having triggered). |
|
Cooldown Count = 3 Boosts damage by 35% of unit's Atk when Special triggers. If unit initiates combat, grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before unit's first attack and reduces damage from foe's attacks by 40% during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials). |
|
If unit or foe initiates combat after moving to a different space, grants Atk/Spd+6 and Atk/Spd+X to unit during combat (X = number of spaces from start position to end position of whoever initiated combat; max 4), and also, if unit initiates combat, reduces damage from foe's attacks by X x 3 during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials). If foe's attack triggers foe's Special, reduces damage dealt to unit by X x 3 during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials). |
|
Inflicts Spd/Def-4 on foe and reduces damage from foe's attacks by 7 during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials), and also, if unit's Special is ready or unit's Special triggered before or during this combat, unit deals +15 damage during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials), and also, restores 7 HP to unit when unit deals damage to foe during combat. If decreasing the Spd difference necessary to make a follow-up attack by 25 would allow unit to trigger a follow-up attack (excluding guaranteed or prevented follow-ups), triggers 【Potent Follow X%】 during combat (if unit cannot perform follow-up and attack twice, X = 80; otherwise, X = 40). |
|
At start of turn, unit can move 1 extra space (that turn only; does not stack). Grants bonus to unit's Atk/Spd/Def/Res during combat = number of spaces from start position to end position of whoever initiated combat (max 3), and also, if unit's attack can trigger unit's Special, grants Special cooldown count-2 to unit before unit's first follow-up attack. |

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Summer Lapis are +Spd and -Res. Spd is a superboon and boosts Lapis's Spd from base 48 to base 52, allowing her to outspeed a majority of the metagame. Investing into Spd is the best option in order to maximize Lapis's stat spread both offensively and defensively - generating follow-up attacks against slower foes while preventing follow-up attacks from the fastest metagame foes.
Summer Lapis's Res is her least important stat and can be safely taken as a bane as it won't impact any of her matchups.
We recommend +Spd when merging Summer Lapis up to +10 to ensure she remains competitive against fully invested speedy units.

Summer Lapis excels as an initiator unit with her mobility and applying Share Spoils+ to multiple foes. Emblem Eirika Ring improves her combat and ensures she can burst down her foes with multiple Haze Slice triggers.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Summer Lapis is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Summer Lapis's exclusive weapon Haulin' Harpoon grants her 【Canto (Dist. +1; Max 4)】 and allows her to use 【Distant Swap】 on an ally during Canto.
In combat, Haulin' Harpoon grants Lapis up to Atk/Spd/Def/Res+14 based on number of allies within 3 rows and 3 columns, up to +32 bonus true damage based on number of foes within 3 spaces, true damage reduction equal to 20% of her Spd, and an additional true damage reduction effect on her foe's Special triggers.
After combat, if Lapis initiated combat, Haulin' Harpoon deals 10 post-combat damage to her foe and all foes within 2 spaces of the target foe and inflicts 【Share Spoils+】 on those foes.
【Share Spoils+】 is a negative status effect that inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-5 on the affected unit, neutralizes their non-Special percentage-based damage reduction effects, and if they are defeated in combat, grants the foe that defeated them an extra action after combat.
Haulin' Harpoon makes Summer Lapis a great initiator unit, allowing her to attack, inflict 【Share Spoils+】 onto multiple foes and soften them with post-combat damage, and then retreat to safety with 【Canto (Dist. +1; Max 4)】.
List of Bonus and Penalty Status Effects
Summer Lapis is yet another speedy Lance Infantry unit, making her face stiff competition from similar units like Jehanna Ike, Attuned Timerra and Attuned Caeda.
Haulin' Harpoon's effects make her stand out compared to other options and provide a niche, but it may be difficult to find room for her on your team alongside similar fast Infantry units.

Summer Lapis has Haze Slice, Atk/Spd Excel, Potent Finish, and Pulse Tempest F as inheritable options.
All of these skills are powerful and worth inheriting onto your favorite units. Potent Finish and Pulse Tempest F are the two rarest skills here, and can be inherited at the same time by inheriting the prerequisite skills first.

I'm still confused on why some heroes, like this one, don't have null follow up, & it's not even recommended as a seal. Why do some need it while others don't?

Null Follow-Up is essential for most speedy units. We didn't recommend it here because it's easy to outsource (through skills like Inf. Null Follow 4) and Potent Finish helps mitigate the lack of NFU in cases where Lapis's natural follow-up is neutralized. Null Follow-Up 3 as a Sacred Seal can also work if opting to run Summer Lapis without Emblem Eirika Ring.
