When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Spd/-Def

The best IVs for Summer Gaius are +Spd and -Def. A higher Spd stat allows Gaius to prevent follow-up attacks against him and helps him make follow-up attacks on his own. This boosts both his offensive and survivability capabilities. His low Def is of less importance, so it is safe to take Def as a bane. As much as possible, do not take a bane in Res as it is a superbane and Def Ploy 3 is more effective the higher Gaius' Res is!

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Summer Gaius to 10. His Atk is low so it is best to go all in on Spd to simultaneously increase his offensive and defensive abilities. His Spd will reach 44 once at +10 Merges. If you plan to have him in team compositions that can increase his Spd, you can go for a +Atk IV instead.

How to Use, Explanation

This is an offensive build for Summer Gaius. Spendthrift Bow+ gives him a huge boost in Atk, and stacking Atk/Spd Solo further increases his firepower. Null Follow-Up 3 will guarantee he gets follow-up attacks while nullifying effects that guarantee his target's follow-up attacks.

Gaius is a ranged physical attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Def Ploy 3 is a Strong Debuff

Def Ploy 3 inflicts -5 Def to enemies in cardinal directions if Summer Gaius's Res is more than their Res. Summer Gaius' Res is somewhat high so the only think you need to worry about is positioning him properly in order to take advantage of this potential damage increase.

Refreshing Bolt+ Makes Gaius Stronger at 100% HP

Refreshing Bolt+ grants him +2 to all stats if she is at 100% HP. However, it deals damage to him if he initiates combat so it is hard to keep the buff on for long. It is similar to Celica's Ragnarok. Be sure to pair a healer with Gaius to help keep this buff active!

Summer Gaius Weaknesses

Low Offensive Power

Summer Gaius is not gifted with a high Atk stat unlike other bow users. If you plan to make use of him in competitve modes such as Arena or Aether Raids, make sure to make use of Def Ploy 3 properly. If you plan to use him on the long term, it is best to invest skills, merges and dragonflowers onto Summer Gaius. If he is your main damage source, try to integrate skills like Joint Hone Atk onto his allies to boost Summer Gaius' Atk.

Low Def

Summer Gaius' Def only sits at 19 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for physical units to take him out. Be mindful of Summer Gaius' positioning in relation to physical units that can easily take him out.
