◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Valentine's Greil are +Atk and -Spd. Greil does not rely on follow-up attacks to deal damage as Wary Fighter 3 blocks his ability to do so. So the best way to increase his damage is through a +Atk IV. As mentioned, Greil heavily relies on his B skill to block follow-up attacks so his Spd is not of much use.
We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Valentine's Greil to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. If you prefer getting Distant Counter to replace Fury 4, you can go for a +Res IV instead. This makes up for the bunch of stats he loses when giving up his A skill.

This build makes V!Greil a tank that can double in both the player phase and enemy phase. Taking a +Res refine on Slaying Axe+ will bolster his stats so even Magic users and dragons will struggle against him. You can substitute his C skill for something more support-oriented or give him something that can boost his own stats further such as Wave skills.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Valentine's Greil is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Valentine's Greil's weapon, Faithful Axe+ will give him +3 to all stats during combat if he is adjacent to an ally. When combined with Fury 4, he can gain a total of +7 to all stats. The only downside to this massive stat boost is that Fury 4 deals 8 damage to Greil every time he exits combat. However, you can take advantage of that damage by getting a skill like Vantage 3.
On top of his naturally high defenses, Valentine's Greil has access to Wary Fighter 3. Wary Fighter 3 prevents Greil and his foe from executing follow-up attacks if his HP ≥ 50%. Greil benefits greatly from this, as he does not rely on follow-up attacks to deal damage anyway. He hits very hard with single hits and his Spd is not that good to begin with. Losing the ability landing follow-up attacks does not set back Greil in any way.
If Valentine's Greil is adjacent to other armored units, Greil and said units can move 1 extra space for that turn. It is somewhat pretty easy to trigger and it greatly improves the mobility of all armored allies. Another quirk of Armor March 3 is you can move to those tiles even if they are forests similar to how flying movement works.
Valentine's Greil takes 1.5x damage from armor-effective weapons like Armorslayer+ or Hammer+, and one blow from these types of weapons is sure to take him down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

Valentine's Greil can be used to inherit Fury 4. To maximize this unit, we recommend getting Fury 3 from a 4★ unit like Hinata to be able to get another skill from him as you can inherit 4 skills per unit.
If done correctly, you still have space to inherit either Aether or Faithful Axe+. If you are able to score the prerequisite skills for Aether in New Moon and Luna, then you will be able to inherit Fury 4, Aether and Faithful Axe+ all onto another unit!
Valentine's Greil is a limited time Hero who can be pulled from a Special Heroes Summoning Event. They do not appear in regular summons.
Note: Not currently a featured hero in any Summon events.

As mercenaries, we fight and win. We have to stay in perfect condition, or we won’t survive. That’s the job. If you do survive, all that fighting wears on you. Believe me, I know! There’s no magic medicine that’ll heal that wear and tear on your heart. Money, status, honor... They won’t do the trick either. It’s people who help. My comrades, and more than that, my children... They lift my spirits. It’s thanks to them that I can see a path forward. I’m truly grateful to them, from the bottom of my heart. |
