This is a guide to completing Volcanic Hide-and-Seek, a request in New Pokemon Snap (Pokemon Snap 2) for the Nintendo Switch. Here you can find what kind of photo you need, and how to take it, in order to clear Volcanic Hide-and-Seek, as well as the reward!
List of Contents
|Course||Volcano Lv. 3|
|Target Pokemon 2||Charizard|
|How to Unlock||・After reaching research level 3 in the Volcano.|
|Request Text||・“There are Charmander all over the place in the volcano. Do you think something might happen if you find a bunch of them?”|
There will be a Tyrantrum in the middle of the main route's final area. Above it will be a Graveler and a crystabloom. Wait until you pass by the Tyrantrum then throw an Illumina orb to light up the crystabloom. Make sure not to accidentally hit the Charizard, or else it will not show up when you need it later.
Immediately after, start throwing fluffruit at the Charmander area. The area is directly straight from where Tyrantrum is facing, but there is a rocky platform in between Tyrantrum and the Charmander area. You need to keep throwing fluffruit until you round the corner and see at least 5 Charmander. If there aren't at least 5, you won't be able to complete the request.
|Note: This request can be completed without encountering a single Charmander prior to entering the volcano.|
When the NEO-ONE starts to round the corner to reveal the Charmander, use the Melody player, which will get the Charizard flying around above you to circle the Charmander area. Also, when you round the corner, stop throwing fluffruit, or else it will be fresh enough for the Charmander to get distracted by them.
Once the Charmander are in full view, stop the Melody player by pressing its controller input again. If you continue to let it play, the Charmander will get distracted by the music.
If you've followed the steps correctly, the Charmander should take formation as a Charizard lands in front of them. Afterward, the Charmander will celebrate and jump in the air. The request is only completed with a photo of the Charmander jumping in celebration. Note that not all Charmander need to be jumping for the photo. The initial caption of the photo just has to be "Yay!".
There are no obtainable rewards for completing this request.

>>8 THIS. THIS WORKED. I spent quite literally HOURS doing this quest and it finally accepted the photo when I chose one with Charizard dust still settling, focused on Charmander. Thank you.
I think you need to get the picture during the initial dance while Charizard lands--the part where they all jump in the air is right at the end of the dance, which I think is why pictures of the jump sometimes fail (as the game might consider that too late). Try to use a shot where the Charmander have their arms in the air and you can still see some dust from Charizard landing. For what it's worth I had 7 Charmanders in my successful shot, but saw a Youtuber do it with 5.
