Sage Merlyn can be placed in the backline to wait for possible stacking of debuffs that the team receives. When the team has racked up 5 or more debuffs, she can increase the ATK stat of your Azure Soul ally with the highest ATK.

Ideally, your unit with the highest ATK should be Florence, and it's recommended to put her as your main attacker. While Amleth can essentially be a tank who can withstand burst damage from commonly-used attackers.

Double DPS-Tank (Sage Merlyn as Carry Support)

Fortina can provide shields for her allies to boost their survivability. Meanwhile, Summer Amleth and Amleth act as dual hybrid-DPS units, with Summer Amleth dealing AoE and multi-hit attacks and Azure-soul Amleth being a highly durable "last-woman standing" type of damage dealer.

While Sivi can support the main attackers of the team through defensive support, Sage Merlyn can boost the ATK of the DPS carry in the team. Moreover, both of them can "soften up" the enemies and help chip away at their health.

Sage Merlyn Analysis and How to Play

Supports Your DPS Carry

When her active skill Like Master Taught Me reaches Level 2, Sage Merlyn will be able to cleanse debuffs from the afflicted ally with the highest ATK.

Leveraging Debuffs and Debuff Cleansing

When active skill Forest Tide is at Level 4, Sage Merlyn will be able to leverage being debuffed by using the debuff cleansing ability to inadvertently increase her magical attack’s damage.

In Sage Merlyn's case, it's best to not have a teammate that frequently cleanses debuffs as it'd be beneficial to stack debuffs on the team. This also makes Sage Merlyn a considerable counter to enemy debuffers.

Azure Buff

Sage Merlyn is able to be a buff that is especially effective for Azure allies or team comps using her passive skill, The Gift of Magic. This passive skill increases the ATK of the Azure ally who has the highest ATK stat when Sage Merlyn and her allies are afflicted with 5 or more debuffs.

For this reason, it's best to use Sage Merlyn when there are Azure attackers in your team.

Tank Capabilities

With her passive skill Sage of the Deep Forest, Sage Merlyn is able to reduce the damage she takes. Moreover, this skill can also increase her P. DEF and P. CRIT DMG Cut , enabling Sage Merlyn to take less damage from Warrior and Sniper-type witches and physical critical attacks.

Afterwards, this skill deals 1 magical attack equal to 320% of her ATK to 3 random enemies.

Level 3	Unlocks by level 161 The magical attack’s damage becomes equal to 520% of her ATK.

Level 4	Unlocks by level 181 Additionally, before dealing the magical attack, if the total number of debuffs dispelled by Merlyn and her allies’ skills during battle is 5 or more, the magical attack’s damage becomes equal to 2340% of Merlyn’s ATK.

Afterwards, this skill dispels 1 debuff from Merlyn.
Level 2	Unlocks by level 121 The number of debuffs that are dispelled becomes 3.
Level 3	Unlocks by level 201 The amount the target’s ATK increases by becomes 50%.
