Most vehicles like cars, horses, planes, helicopters, and boats can be obtained by scanning them with your phone in Far Cry 6. Military vehicles must be brought to a Vehicle Pickup Point to get them. Learn how to get all types of vehicles available in the game.

For all non-Military Vehicles, you can obtain them permanently simply by scanning them with your phone. Take out your phone by pressing Up on the D-Pad (controls vary by platform), stand a suitable distance away from the vehicle, and wait for the scanning to complete. When a green checkmark is displayed, the vehicle is yours!
It's not possible to scan vehicles in motion or which have drivers. However, it is still easy enough to obtain any non-military cars that catch your fancy on the road without too much fuss.

| 1 | Simply stand in the car's path. The driver will brake to avoid hitting you. |
| 2 | Walk to the driver's side and select Commandeer. The driver will leave the car. |
| 3 | Get out of the car. |
| 4 | Scan the car to obtain it. |
Vehicles which are owned by the Military cannot be obtained so easily. You'll need to move to the driver's side, select Commandeer, and drive them to a matching Vehicle Pickup Point to claim ownership.
Note that it's possible to Commandeer a car coming the opposite direction while driving! It's a bit difficult so it's best to simply make the car come to a stop.
Vehicle Pickup Points are shown as green and white icons on the map and minimap. Find a nearby pickup point which matches the type of vehicle you have Commandeered, and drive the vehicle there. The vehicle will be automatically obtained when you reach the Pickup Point.
All vehicles which have been obtained by scanning or bringing to the Vehicle Pickup Points can be used at any time by going to a Pickup Point matching the vehicle type and selecting the vehicle from the list.
Note that these are separate from the cars which appear on the Rides menu screen. These specific Rides can only be obtained as part of the story, and it's not possible to summon other vehicles using the Call for Vehicle option found on the Rides menu screen.
