Is Far Cry 6 a Sequel?
As the title implies, Far Cry 6 is a sequel, but how connected is it to the previous titles? In general Far Cry as a series is pretty loosely connected, with each game taking place in vastly different locations and years. Here is a list of the series settings so far:

Multiplayer and Co-op
Online Co-op Mode Available
The developers of Far Cry 6 have confirmed that the game will have a multiplayer mode similar to Far Cry 5. In Far Cry 5, you can invite one friend to your current playthrough who can join you throughout the entire campaign.
Likely No Local Co-op Mode
Unfortunately, if Far Cry 6 has the same exact multiplayer mode as Far Cry 5, you will be unable to play local co-op via split screen with a friend.
