Open The Gate of Lost Ages

Wolf Statuette - Behind Gate of Lost Ages
To open the Gate of Lost Ages, you must first defeat the champion Quyn The Sparkwielder in Docktown to claim his essence. Behind the gate is a Red Lyrium Crystal Puzzle you will have to solve to access the area where the statuette is.

Defeat Apprentice Sullivan

Wolf Statuette - Defeat Apprentice Sullivan.png
You'll reach the next area after using a ranged attack to lower the ladder. Defeat Apprentice Sullivan then destroy all of the red crystals to unseal the barrier. Climb up the ladder then defeat the statuette guards to claim it.

Open The Gate of Faded Glories

The First Statuette is a Trap

Gate of Faded Glories Wolf Statuette
There's another stauttete that you can find by exploring the area behind the Gate of Faded Glories. The quest area is unlocked once you finish Sea of Blood and The Smuggled Relic Case. Track the quest and head to the marker in Arlathan Forest where you'll have to defeat Entarus The Rekindled.

On claiming the statuette, you'll be ambushed by Antaam enemies. Your party later finds out that it was a fake, then Rook says that the real one must be nearby. Navigate your way through the floating islands in the area.

Claim The Real Wolf Statuette

Gate of Faded Glories Statuette Real
You'll eventually see the statuette under this small archway on an island directly behind where you found the fake one. Once there, clear the enemies then claim the statuette.

Speak to The Inquisitor

The Inquisitor automatically gives you 1 Wolf Statuette during the main quest Shades of the Blight. This quest is just a dialogue sequence that progresses the main story and is unmissable.

View Memories in The Lighthouse

Regrets of The Dreadwolf - View Regrets
Once you have at least one statuette, you can place them on pedestals in The Lighthouse. A quick cutscene plays that show parts of Solas's past, then you enter a brief dialogue with your team to discuss after.

These are important lore information and will help you during the last leg of this quest, so take note of your discussions.

Speak to Morrigan at The Crossroads

Regrets of The Dreadwolf - Speak to Morrigan in The Crossroads
After viewing all 6 of Solas's memories, the Caretaker will point you towards Morrigan, who's wanting to speak to you at The Crossroads. Much like the memories, this dialogue sequence mainly introduces more backstory, but also some important things to remember before you confront a fragment of Mythal.

We recommend Saving before and after speaking to Morrigan. She'll open up the blocked path. Proceed when ready.

Speak with Mythal

Speak to Mythal.png
Upon arriving at the Nest of the Ancients, you will find Mythal waiting for you. She is very reluctant to help you, as she believes you are not worthy.

You now have the option to convince Mythal to help you, or fight Mythal to prove your worth.

Should You Convince or Fight Mythal?

How to Convince Mythal

Obtain Mythal's Approval

Pick Correct Dialogue Choices
Mythal will give you a total of 4 opportunities to convince her to help you. To succeed in convincing her, you must pick 3 good choices or 2 good choices and 2 okay choices.

To instantly get Mythal to agree with you pick the following answers:

    > Solas is helping me.
  • Respected him.
  • > We must stop the blight
  • You stood against it.
  • > We Must Stop the Gods.
  • They wronged you.
  • > We are Worthy.
  • Building a safe place.

The bad options will offend her and immediately start the fight, so be careful when picking. The other options are:

Solas is Helping Me.

  • Forgotten him. (Okay)
  • I'm sorry that happened. (Bad)

We Must Stop the Blight.

  • People will die. (Okay)
  • The blight is your fault. (Bad)

We Must Stop the Gods.

  • Put the blight aside? (Okay)
  • We need no gods. (Bad)
  • We stopped Anaris (Available only if you've done all of Bellara's companion quests. Will immediately convince Mythal)

We are Worthy.

  • Fighting monsters. (Okay)
  • I'm following your example. (Bad)

Failing to Convince Her Leads to a Fight

Failing to Convince Her Leads to a Fight
If you fail to convince Mythal, either by picking 'bad' answers, or by selecting the [Forget it. I'll fight you] option, she transforms into a High Dragon which you have to defeat.

Dragon Attacks
Swipe Does a quick swipe with either its front or rear legs, depending on your position.
Headbutt Quickly snaps its jaws as if taunting before lunging forward to try and slam down its head on you.
Body Slam Flies up and briefly charges before brining itself down with force, affecting a large area
Breath Attack Has a Shock breath.
Marks you with a circle of electricity before firing a straight stream of lightning.
(Can shoot on land or while flying.)
Tail Swipe Swings its body in a 180-degree arc to try and hit you with its tail.
Charge Briefly winds up before charging at you in a straight line.
The Tail Swipe is the only attack you can normally block, unless you're playing the Champion Specialization with Inspiring Guard.

Endings Guide

You Can Get Both Rewards

You Can Get Both Rewards
It is possible for you to get both Unique items from this quest. To do so, you must first convince Mythal to help you. This will reward you with Mythal's Light.

Once the quest completion screen disappears, jump down into the arena and follow the path out. At the end of the path, you will find the chest containing A Pale Reflection.

Doing this will also grant you Mythal's Favor, which will come in handy during The Heart of Corruption.
