What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Weapon skill accelerates Special trigger, inflicts debuffs on enemy units, restricts units with extra movement skills to 1 space, and grants buffs to himself. |
Might: 14 Range: 2 Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). At start of turn, inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-5 and 【Stall】on foes on the enemy team with the lowest Spd and any foes within 2 spaces of those foes. At start of combat, if foe's HP ≥ 75%, grants Atk/Res+6 to unit during combat. 【Stall】If unit has "unit can move 1 extra space," converts that effect into "restricts movement to 1 space" through its next action. |
Cooldown Count = 4 Boosts damage dealt by 80% of unit’s Res. |
At start of combat, if unit's HP = 100% or if 【Bonus】 is active on unit, grants Atk/Res+5 to unit during combat. |
If unit initiates attack, foes within 2 spaces of target take 7 damage after combat. |

See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Riev will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Riev are +Atk and -Def. A +Atk IV is best for him as he wants to deal as much damage as possible. With this IV, the range of units he can take out with one hit will increase. His Def is of less importance so it is safe to take it as his bane.
We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Riev to 10. This is for the same reasons as stated above.

Riev's weapon is the star here, but we want to up his firepower with Atk/Res Ideal 4 and debuff enemies with Lull Atk/Res 3. Double Savage Blow will help tick down enemy units faster for the rest of his team to clean up.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Riev is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Riev's weapon has the following effects:
1 | Accelerates his Special trigger. |
---|---|
2 | Inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-5 and【Stall】on enemy units with the lowest Spd and any allies they have within 2 spaces. |
3 | Grants Riev Atk/Res+6 during combat when his HP ≥ 75% |
While the buffs and Special acceleration are great effects, what makes this tome truly powerful is the fact that any unit with an extra movement skill will be restricted to only 1 space.
Since Fallen Edelgard met the conditions for Armored Stride, she triggers Argent Aura's movement restriction effects. Because she is in proximity of her allies, her allies get their movement restricted too.
This hits skills such as Odd Tempest 3, Yuri's Honorable Blade, Legendary Sigurd's Holy-Knight Aura, and Fallen Edelgard's Armored Stride 3 which she heavily relies upon.
Riev suffers the same weakness as several other mages - his Def isn't very high so he has no way to retaliate if a physical damage melee unit decides to get up close and personal.
Should You Unlock Potential for this Hero? |
---|
We can say with confidence that you should use Unlock Potential to bring Riev - Blood Beryl from 4 Stars to 5 Stars. Riev - Blood Beryl is a very useful debuff attacker, so we recommend you Unlock Potential for Riev - Blood Beryl if your team lacks a strong debuff attacker.

---|
Riev most notably can be used to inherit Atk/Res Ideal 3, though being a free unit, he is also a good, reliable source for Glacies and Savage Blow 3.
As he can be obtained via Grails, he's a very useful fodder unit in a pinch.
Riev is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
