I had to lure it with FFs after following the instructions several times. Only way it got close enough. Alt route didn’t work for me either (unless you threw FFs)
It worked for me u don’t have to take secret path and Mabye you did it wrong.
I did it twice it didn't work
Taking the alternate route youll you'll see a crystal below the rise where a koffin is. Light it up to make it grow
