Kill Enemies to Earn Weapon Proficiency

The First Descendant - Lepic Attacking Enemies

You can increase weapon proficiency by killing enemies with the weapon of your choice. Your weapon proficiency will increase naturally as you progress through the game, so there is no need to worry about it that much.

However, it's best to keep using the same weapon during missions if you want to increase its proficiency.

What Does Weapon Proficiency Do?

Lets you Equip More Modules

Weapon Proficiency Comparison

Increasing your weapon proficiency lets you have a higher module capacity limit for the weapon you are using. You can equip more modules this way as long as you keep earning experience for the weapon you are currently using.

You also get a small amount of experience added to your mastery rank when you level your weapon proficiency. This only applies for the first time that you earn experience for that weapon.

Resetting your weapon proficiency with crystallization catalysts will no longer grant you any bonus experience to your mastery rank. At that point, you will have to use a different weapon instead.

Lets you Use Crystallization Catalysts

Installing Crystallization Catalysts lets you choose an additional module socket you can add to your currently equipped weapon. However, this resets your weapon's level altogether. Doing so lets you slot more modules onto your weapon at a reduced capacity.
