For the 3-star pic of Salazzle digging in the sand, I think you actually want to be on Research Level 2, not 3—I was having no luck getting her to move far enough over to the left in any of my many Level 3 attempts, but the one time I happened to be running the course on Level 2 (wherein she comes out on the other side of the rock, closer to the sand in question) and gave it a shot for the heck of it, it worked first try!
For the 3-star photo, you can also lure Salazzle over to the Kangaskan and get a picture of her attacking. I found that a lot easier than trying to get her all the way over to the odor sand, since she comes out on that side of the rock anyway.
