Effects of Elemental Damage in Battle

Exploit Enemy Weaknesses to Deplete Toughness

Honkai Star Rail - Targeting Enemy Weaknesses
Enemies will have certain elements that they are weak to. Using elemental attacks that match these weaknesses will help decrease their Toughness much faster. Once you get it down to zero, a Weakness Break is triggered.

Weakness Breaks Grant More Damage

Honkai Star Rail - Triggering a Weakness Break
Weakness Breaks will delay enemies' actions and deal additional damage. Depending on the element of the attack that triggered it, there can be additional instances of damage or speed reduction.

Take advantage of Weakness Breaks in battle so you have more opportunities to attack and deal extra damage!

Break Effect Stat

The Break Effect stat enhances Weakness Breaks, but is only beneficial for the character inflicting the Weakness Break.

Things Affected by Break Effect Stat
・Additional damage dealt by the Weakness Break
・Damage of DoTs
・How long enemy actions are delayed by Imaginary, Ice, and Quantum.

When to Build Break Effect

Stacking the Break Effect stat is great for Breakers if you intend to put one in your team as a Sub-DPS. It is a good idea to pair your Breaker with a Main DPS because Breakers lose effectiveness when enemies are broken.

Targeting Elemental Weaknesses

Weaknesses Vary Depending on the Enemy

Honkai Star Rail - Fixed Enemy Weaknesses
Rather than certain elements being stronger than another, elemental weaknesses and resistances are fixed depending on the enemy. For example, an enemy that deals Physical attacks can still be weak to Physical damage as well.

View Enemy Weaknesses Before Battle

Honkai Star Rail - View Enemy Weaknesses
Before initiating battle, you can also see what elements an enemy is weak to by approaching them. Make sure that the target selection pointer is hovered over the enemy you want to view the weaknesses of.

Once you know what an enemy is weak to, switch up your team members so you can best take advantage of them!

How to Do Elemental Attacks

Fixed into All Moves of a Character's Kit

A character's Basic ATK, Skill, and Ultimate will all deal elemental damage based on their designated element. Since even Physical attacks are considered as elemental damage, you will need to bring characters of various elements to target all weaknesses during combat.
