Should You Pull for Blade?

Blade is an amazing damage dealer who's tailored more for AoE damage. He also does not need to use a lot of SP, which makes your team comps more compatible with units who want to spam their Skills. Get Blade if you need a great AoE damage dealer!

HP% ★★★
CRIT DMG ★★★
CRIT Rate ★★★
SPD ★★

This Blade build focuses on increasing his HP% and CRIT Damage to make the most out of his abilities and Traces.

Blade's damage scales better with HP% than ATK%, so try to get HP% stats when you can. Blade should have at least 5000 HP to activate the Bone Collection's Serene Demesne set's CRIT DMG buff.

Recommended Stat Values

Stat Recommended Value
HP 7000 or above
CRIT Rate 70% - 80% (Out of combat)
CRIT DMG 150% or above
SPD Base SPD
1 SPD above Sunday/Bronya

Blade only needs at least 70 - 80% CRIT Rate since Longevous Disciple will provide the remaining CRIT Rate he needs. As for his CRIT DMG, 150% should be enough for optimal damage.

As for Blade's SPD, you can have him at base SPD and rely on your Supports like Sunday or Bronya (with them having 160 SPD) to bring Blade in front of the turn order. You can also have his SPD higher than those supports for multiple turns in a cycle.

This Blade team comp is focused on enhancing Blade to become the Hypercarry of the party. Tribbie provides an All-Type RES PEN buff and additional DMG while Sunday focuses on buffing Blade through his Skill and Ultimate.

Hyacine is a great healer here because she can increase the party's Max HP. Lynx can be a 4-star alternative as she can increase Blade's chances of getting hit with her Skill, allowing Blade to use his Follow-up Attacks quickly.

Blade Gameplay Guide

Do Not Pair Blade with a Shielder

Star Rail - Blade

Blade's Talent ability requires him to either take damage or consume his own HP to build up charges. Having a shield prevents him from taking damage, so avoid pairing Blade with characters from the path of Preservation like Gepard or March 7th.

Use His Ultimate to Consume or Heal HP

Star Rail - Blade

Along with dealing damage, Blade's Ultimate has two core functions. One of them is for reaching max Cap of 90% total HP loss for increasing the damage of his Ultimate. The other is for using it as an emergency tool to bring him out of the brink of death.

Blade's Traces (Skills and Passives)

Active Abilities

Trace Scaling and Explanation
Talent Shuhu's Gift: When Blade sustains DMG or consumes his HP, he gains 1 stack of Charge, stacking up to 5 times. A max of 1 Charge stack can be gained every time he is attacked. When Charge stack reaches maximum, immediately launches 1 Follow-up ATK on all enemies, dealing Wind DMG equal to 65% of Blade's Max HP. At the same time, restores Blade's HP by 25% of his Max HP. After the Follow-up ATK, all Charges are consumed.
Basic ATK Shard Sword: Deals Wind DMG equal to 25% of Blade's Max HP to one designated enemy.
Enhanced - Forest of Swords
Consumes HP equal to 10% of Blade's Max HP and deals Wind DMG equal to 65% of his Max HP to one designated enemy. In addition, deals Wind DMG equal to 26% of Blade's Max HP to adjacent targets. If Blade's current HP is insufficient, his HP will be reduced to 1 when using "Forest of Swords." "Forest of Swords" cannot regenerate Skill Points.
Skill Hellscape: Consumes HP equal to 30% of Blade's Max HP to enter the "Hellscape" state. While under the "Hellscape" state, his Skill cannot be used, his DMG dealt increases by 12%, the chance of receiving attacks from enemy targets greatly increases, and his Basic ATK "Shard Sword" is enhanced to "Forest of Swords" for 3 turn(s). If Blade's current HP is insufficient, his HP will be reduced to 1 when he uses his Skill. This Skill does not regenerate Energy. Using this Skill does not end the current turn.
Ultimate Death Sentence: Sets Blade's current HP to 50% of his Max HP and deals Wind DMG to one designated enemy equal to the sum of 90% of his Max HP and 72% of the tally of Blade's HP loss in the current battle. At the same time, deals Wind DMG to adjacent targets equal to the sum of 36% of his Max HP and 36% of the tally of his HP loss in the current battle. The tally of Blade's HP loss in the current battle is capped at 90% of his Max HP. This value will be reset and re-accumulated after his Ultimate has been used.

Technique and Bonus Abilities

Trace Scaling and Explanation
Technique Karma Wind: Immediately attacks the enemy. After entering battle, consumes 20% of Blade’s Max HP and deals 40% of Blade’s Max HP as Wind DMG to all enemies. If Blade's current HP is insufficient, his HP will be reduced to 1 when this Technique is used.
