How to Level Up and Ascend Characters

Spend Character EXP Materials

Honkai Star Rail - Spending Ascension Materials

In the Character Details menu, pick a character and select Level Up on the bottom right of the screen.

This will prompt you to use Character EXP Materials such as Traveler's Guide, Adventure Log, or Travel Encounters to level up your character for the first 20 Levels.

Collect Materials and Increase Equilibrium Level

Star Rail - Collect Materials and Increase your Equilibrium Level to ascend your characters

When a character reaches levels 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70, they must use items called Ascension Materials to ascend them and continue leveling them up. Most of these levels require you to complete Trials of the Equilibrium to ascend your characters.

• Complete the Trial of the Equilibrium: Part Three
61 ~ 70 4 • Trailblaze Level 50
• Complete the Trial of the Equilibrium: Part Four
71 ~ 80 5 • Trailblaze Level 60
• Complete the Trial of the Equilibrium: Part Five

How to Get Ascension Materials

• Available as soon as you unlock the Synthesize Menu.
• Use lower rarity materials to get higher rarity materials.
Assignments

• Get a lot of materials over time.
• Can be done daily without needing to grind.
World Shops

• Uses World Currency gained from Missions and Treasure Chests.
• Amount of materials are limited.
Embers Exchange
★★☆
• Currency obtained after collecting 3-Star Light Cones from Warps.
• Star Rail Passes take priority.
• Only recommended for spenders.
Simulated Universe
★☆☆
• No Cost Required
• Obtained from enemy drops in Simulated Universe.
• Clearing a World in Simulated Universe takes too long.
Overworld Enemies
★☆☆
• No Cost Required
• Only do this to maximize material grinding.

You can get a lot of materials through using the Omni-Synthesizer and Assignments alone. Do Assignments to collect a ton of materials and use them in the Omni-Synthesizer to get higher rarity materials.

If hit max level, like 20/20, do the unit still get exp? Or it just like genshin, NO EXCESS character EXP, except for AR/Equilibrium Level.
