An Academic Interest Objectives
Talk to Bastian
To start this quest, you'll need to talk to Bastian towards the south side of Lavandel Village. You'll be tasked with investigating Gaspin Manor to examine the strange occurrences that are happening over there.
Go Through the Cavernous Tunnels
To get to Gaspin Manor, you'll need to go through the Cavernous Tunnels first. Be careful while you're in here since there are a bunch of Venatori Barrier Crystals that like to do charged AoE attacks until you destroy them.
Defeat the Enemies in the Manor
Once you're through the tunnels, you'll arrive in Gaspin Manor. There will be a bunch of enemies in the area so clear them out first before doing anything else.
Remove the Barrier Blocking the Cellar
After you've cleared out the area of enemies, you'll need to destroy the barrier blocking the cellar to proceed with the quest. This is the same as the crystals in the tunnels so just destroy them to move forward.
Defeat the Consuming Obsession
When you're ready, interact with the wall to open up a hidden room and start the fight with the Consuming Obsession. Be careful as the area you fight in is rather small so make sure you don't accidentally back yourself into a corner.
Return to Bastian
Once you've defeated the boss and gathered the treasures from the hidden room, you can go back to Bastian and talk to him and finish the quest.
