Guts When the Pokemon is affected by a bad status condition, like poison or a burn, the power of its physical moves goes up.
No Guard When changes to the Pokemon's and its target's accuracy or evasiveness make it more difficult for attacks to land, those changes go away so that the Pokemon can have a fair fight.

As a Fighting-type, Machop needs protection from Fairy-, Flying-, and Psychic-types. In that case, Pikachu can best serve as Machop's partner.

On top of covering Flying-type Pokemon with its Electric-type moves, Pikachu can also cover Psychic- and Fairy- type Pokemon with Thief and Iron Tail.

Notes

  • This moveset provides Machop with a strong STAB option in Dynamic Punch and good type coverage.
  • Flamethrower is highly reliable. You can switch it out with Fire Blast if you prefer.
  • Rock Tomb is great move and it gives Machop a fighting chance with many of the Flying type bosses in the game.
  • Other moves to consider: Poison Jab, Knock Off, Thief, Dual Chop, Strength, Earthquake, Smack Down
  • Take note that Dynamic Punch is learned at Lv. 45. Settle with the other Fighting moves first like Brick Break.

Sleep Talk NormalNormal If you're sleeping, a move you know will be used automatically on an enemy near you. But keep in mind that nothing will happen if you use this while you're wide awake.
Smack Down RockRock It damages an enemy. If the enemy is flying, it will be Grounded, which allows Ground-type moves to hit it. This move also hits a Pokemon that's in the air from using a move like Fly.
Substitute NormalNormal You'll create a Substitute if you have more than half your max HP. Every time you use this move, your HP decreases. When you create a Substitute, you won't be targeted by enemies, but you can't use moves or items, and you can't restore your HP naturally.
Sunny Day FireFire It changes the floor's weather to Sunny. The power of Fire-type moves goes up, and the power of Water-type moves goes down.
Swagger NormalNormal It makes an enemy Confused, but it also sharply raises the enemy's Attack.
Thief DarkDark It damages an enemy. You'll also steal an item that the enemy has. If you can't carry any more items, your attempt to steal will fail.
Toxic PoisonPoison It makes the enemy Badly Poisoned. It never misses if used by a Poison-type Pokemon. It will even hit a Pokemon that's used Dig, Fly, or the like.
