Mt. Thunder Dungeon Guide

We recommend being level 16 for this dungeon.

The enemies suddenly get stronger and the dungeons get longer, so we recommend raising your level before continuing.

Mission 6: Vs. Zapdos | Rescue Shiftry at Mt. Thunder Walkthrough

Objectives
1 You can immediately continue the Story and go to Mt. Thunder.
2 First make it to 10F and go up the stairs for a rest area.
Rest areas will fully heal your health and PP.
You can use the Kangaskhan Statue here to store and take out items.
3 Continue up to 13F to fight the Boss, Zapdos.

Mission 6: Vs. Zapdos | Rescue Shiftry at Mt. Thunder Tips and Strategies

To prepare for the Boss Battle, you will want to bring Confuse Wands and the usual Blast Seeds. Bosses recover quickly from status conditions, but Wands usually have several charges so you should have more than enough to keep applying Confused.

Remember that you can use the Kangaskhan Statue to deposit and withdraw items, so you don't need to carry everything with you when you go.

If you were able to recruit Geodude from Mt. Steel, it's a good idea to bring it to Mt. Thunder as Rock Polish will prove useful both in Mt. Thunder and the fight against Zapdos.

Always remember must have items like Apples and Reviver Seeds.

Best Pokemon to Use

As the name would suggest, there are many Electric Pokemon in Mt. Thunder, so bringing Ground type Pokemon would be best.

Flying and Grass Pokemon also appear at Mt. Thunder, so if you teach Skitty Ice Beam or Blizzard with TMs, it can be a great help against those enemies and Zapdos.

How to Beat Zapdos

Zapdos uses Flying and Electric type moves. To make the fight easier, you can bring Ground types, who are immune to Electric attacks, or Rock types to aim for Super Effective attacks and half damage taken from Flying attacks. Also, if you bring a Growlithe with Helping Hand you can use it to strenghten your entire team!

Inflict Zapdos with Confused or Sleep and use Blast Seeds to deal a lot of damage quickly.

Recruting a lot of Pokemon on your way through Mt. Thunder is a good strategy too.

Pokemon to Recruit on the Way to the Boss

Manectric and Electrike can have the Lightning Rod ability, which basically nullifies all Electric attacks in the room. Needless to say, this is super helpful against Zapdos's Electric moves.
