Many Pokemon in Pitfall Valley are of the Flying Type. If you have these Pokemon, you can use them to make your run easier. Rock and Ice types are good too.
Recruiting Pokemon
When you find a stranded Pokemon in the Dungeon, giving them an Apple will cause them to definitely join your team, so bring plenty of Apples with you into the Dungeon to ensure that you can recruit as many friends as possible before fighting Latios.

Pokemon that Affects the Whole Room
Aerodactyl has Agility who can boost the Travel Speed of the Pokemon in the room. This means that the Pokemon affected can attack twice. Masquerain has Silver Wind which can damage you if you are in the same room. Damage can quickly stack up this way.
