Best Pokemon for the Story

Best Moveset

Move Type Effect
Earth Power GroundGround It damages enemies in the same room. It could also lower their Sp. Def.
Heat Wave FireFire It whips up hot winds, damaging enemies in the same room. It could also leave them with a Burn.
Shell Smash NormalNormal It lowers your Defense and Sp. Def while sharply raising your Attack, Sp. Atk, and Travel Speed. The stats return to normal when you go to the next floor or step on a Wonder Tile.
Solar Beam GrassGrass You'll get the Solar Beam condition, which lets you charge power to try a powerful attack on the next turn. During Sunny weather or in Extremely Harsh Sunlight, it charges for an immediate attack on the first turn. But during Rain, Heavy Rain, Hail, or a Sandstorm, the damage will be reduced.

Notes

  • Shell Smash increases Travel Speed and stats, but only for Torkoal unlike Agility. However, it is still a powerful move in conjunction with Earth Power and Heat Wave. You can easily clean Monster Houses or defeat enemies without them reaching you.
  • Shell Smash lowers Defense and Sp. Def, but with your moves that can hit faraway Pokemon, they would not be able to reach Torkoal anyway. Be wary of Pokemon with room-wide moves though!
  • Solar Beam is a great move that can hit enemies up to four (4) tiles away.
  • Other moves to take consider of are: Flamethrower, Rock Tomb, Stone Edge
