When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Spd / -Res

The best IVs for Embla are +Spd and -Res. Her Spd at base 44 is the among the fastest in the game as of the time of her release, and 【Dodge】 from Severance benefits off the additional Spd as well.

Her Res is below average and is her least important stat, thus it is safe to take as a bane.

+Spd for a +10 merge

We recommend +Spd when merging Embla to +10 for similar reasons above. Spd is her most important stat and aids her both offensively and defensively.

How to Use, Explanation

Embla's base kit works fine for Aether Raids defense. In Catria Balls, replacing Beast Agility with another skill may work better to keep her near her allies. We recommend Dive-Bomb for offensive power, or a movement utility skill like Aerobatics to enhance her mobility.

Embla is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he/she deals will be equivalent to his/her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Embla Strengths

Enclosing Claw applies various penalties

Embla's Enclosing Claw is a loaded weapon that heavily hinders her foe's performance during combat.

It grants Embla Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 during combat and inflicts the following penalties to her foe:

  • Inflicts Atk/Spd/Def stat penalties = number of foes within 3 columns/rows centered on Embla x 3 (max: 9).
  • Neutralizes effects that slow down Embla's Special cooldown charges.
  • Neutralizes effects that guarantee her foe's follow-up attacks.
  • Inflicts Special cooldown charge -1 on foe per attack during combat.

As a flying beast, Enclosing Claw also has the traditional transformation requirement and effects, granting Embla movement+1 and Atk+2 when transformed.

Severance is loaded with useful effects

Embla's exclusive C skill Severance is a very powerful skill that neuters many metagame-relevant effects.

It inflicts 【Undefended】 and 【Feud】 on all foes within 3 columns or 3 rows centered on Embla at the start of the turn, neutralizes any penalties on Embla, and grants herself 【Dodge】.

【Undefended】 as a status condition prevents Savior skills from protecting the affected unit. Savior Skills are very common in the metagame and disabling them will easily destroy an enemy composition centered around these effects.

【Feud】 as a status condition disables all ally's skills from enhancing the affected unit. Support units are common when using a tanking strategy and this status effectively removes them from the fight.

These effects ensure a 1v1 (or better) situation for every combat, not only for Embla herself, but for her allies as well!

Beast Agility 3 allows easy transformation

Embla also debuts a new B skill in Beast Agility 3. It removes all transformation conditions, allowing Embla to always be at peak performance.

It also neutralizes effects that prevent the unit's follow-up attacks, which is very useful for speedy units like Embla.

Embla Weaknesses

Reliance on Enclosing Claw's HP threshold

Enclosing Claw's effects are all tied to Embla being at HP ≥ 25%. Whenever she fails the HP check, Enclosing Claw becomes a generic weapon with no effects.

While 【Dodge】 from Severance reduces damage taken, caution is still necessary to prevent Enclosing Claw from being weakened.

Weak to Bows

As a flying unit, Embla takes 1.5x damage from bows and weapons effective on flying units. Be sure to keep them out of the range of archers and leave them to other units.

Weak to Beast Effective Weapons

Embla takes 1.5x damage from beast-effective weapons like Brave Eliwood's Nini's Ice Lance or Picnic Flora's Sæhrímnir, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take her down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

Beast Agility 3 is a unique skill and is worth giving to your favorite beast units if you are using them in a mixed team composition.
