The best IVs for New Year Elm are +Spd and -HP. His Spd is at base 45 which is the highest in the game as of the time of his release. His kit revolves around outspeeding his opponents and boosting his Spd is a top priority.

New Year Elm's Fang of Finality is loaded with offensive effects that allow him to safely engage onto his foes.

Whenever New Year Elm initiates combat or is not adjacent to an ally, it grants him Atk/Spd+6, neutralizes effects that prevent his follow-up attacks, and deals true damage based on his Spd and the number of enemies near his target.

Fang of Finality also reduces the damage Elm takes from area-of-effect Specials if he isn't adjacent to an ally.

Fang of Finality also has the standard effects of flying beast transformation; Atk+2 and movement +1 upon transforming.

To make his transformation easier, New Year Elm comes with Beast N Trace 3 which removes transformation conditions and grants 【Canto (Rem. +1)】.

Weak to Bows

As a flying unit, New Year Elm takes 1.5x damage from bows and weapons effective on flying units. Be sure to keep them out of the range of archers and leave them to other units.

Weak to Beast Effective Weapons

New Year Elm takes 1.5x damage from beast-effective weapons like Brave Eliwood's Nini's Ice Lance or Picnic Flora's Sæhrímnir, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take him down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
